The ice cream debate!

I don't understand your last poll option, but Ben and Jerry's all the way.

Ben and Jerry's is like either the best or second-best thing to come out of Vermont. Other thing in the top 2 is REAL, PURE maple syrup. Sorry Bert, you're #3 :(

I don't give a shit, it's all ice cream. So I chose the bottom choice.

To be honest, I'm more inclined to go with Ben and Jerry's based on their varieties of flavors. But Haagen Dazs has goddamn good coffee ice cream.

Usually anytime I make these threads I get introduced to some wonderous snack that's sold in the US & Canada but not over here. So I covered that base this time xD

On the rare occasions when I want ice cream, I don't want weird, complex, intermingled flavors. I certainly don't want streaks of cherry and caramel or something ruining it.

What I value is simplicity and quality, and so of course I will never buy either of the brands mentioned above. Sorbets are usually better than ice creams anyway. The best "ice cream" I've ever eaten, by a substantial margin, was black cherry-nectarine ice.

Hagen Whathaveyou is expensive but good.

I'd have to say Chapman's though :jess:

Alternatively, the Tillamook Creamery. You thought they just made cheese? Pah!

My favorite major brand of ice cream is Breyers, either the chocolate or Reese's peanut butter cup flavors. Both of the brands in the poll are quite good, but nothing exceptional.

Although some of the best (albeit pricey) ice cream ever can be found at Springer's (http://www.springersicecream.com/) in southern New Jersey.

Never heard of Haagen Dazs so voted for the Ben and Jerry one.

Haagen Dazs sounds like a Final Fight character.

Golden Gay Time forever. Alternatively, Cold Rock is pretty good, but I don't know they probably get ice cream from somewhere else.

Golden Gay Time forever.

I can't wait till the American and British readers see this.

Ben & Jerry's is so disgustingly overpriced, so no.

Ben and Jerry's is all about the weird flavours (which are great) but the actual ice cream is not the best quality.

Haagen Dazs all the way for me, just their plain vanilla too. It's so rich and creamy. Alternatively, I love proper soft scoop from an ice cream van!

Mayfield's ice cream.

I dig that 1/2 baked Ben & Jerry's though.... the perf stoner food.

Both of the poll options are great. Different occasions!

Carte d'Or has some great ones (http://www.icecreammakesuhappy.co.uk/Products/ProductDetail.aspx?bid=175366&sid=175364&pid=175355) as well.

But both Ben&Jerry's and Haagen Dazs is from america...

In either case, I prefer B&J.

Ben & Jerry's is peasant food. I prefer super-premium products, so it's Haagen Dazs for me.

So premium means only boring tastes available. Got it.

"Super-premium" ice cream specifically means it's "quite dense (very little air is mixed in during manufacture), uses no emulsifiers or stabilizers other than egg yolks, and has a high butterfat content." There are also "premium" and "ultra-premium" ice creams. They describe specific ingredients and practices.

There are plenty of interesting Haagen Dazs flavors available.
Häagen-Dazs® - All Products (http://www.haagendazs.com/products/)

But gimmicks and distractions are Ben & Jerry's game because their ice cream just isn't very good quality.

I don't see strawberry cheesecake so I'm not interested.

Try having real strawberry cheesecake with Haagen Dazs ice cream, if you can afford it on your salary.

I found this both true and absolutely, ironically hilarious.

I literally can't remember the last time I had ice cream from a nation chain brand.

Go support your local ice cream shops.

But I vote B&J just because they seem like cool guys and they gave Colbert his own ice cream.

Cool. Now let's just hope someone in Norway imports that flavor.
