Job Classes

After reading this (http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps2/459841-final-fantasy-xii/faqs/45802) what jobs would you take for your party? Alternately if you had to pick a character for each job, which would you pick? How did you customize your characters in game?

Here was my party in game:

Vaan: Daggers/poles/light armor/shields/green magic
Penelo: Rods/measures/mystic armor/white magic
Balthier: guns/hand bombs/heavy armor/time magic
Fran: bows/daggers/katanas/mystic armor/black magic
Basch: swords/spears/heavy armor/shields/arcane magic
Ashe: staves/maces/light armor/black magic up to level 5/ white magic up to level 5

Then the skills vary by character.

Judging by that guide, I would pick

Knight for Basch
Thief for Vaan
White Mage for Penelo
Black Mage for Fran
Time Mage for Ashe
Gunner for Balthier

It would be cool to see a let's play following those job guidelines.

I would certainly like to see it done. It'd be tricky though, seeing how you don't really get Arcane magick until like Bhujerba I think.

I find it interesting that you pair Balthier with a gun. While it's the obvious choice, along with Penelo, he is actually very slightly slower than his counterparts.

I actually do this every time I play FF12, although I didn't know about this guide and never followed this exact set of rules. My party is usually something along these lines:

Vaan - Thief or Ninja
Penelo - Black Mage
Fran - White Mage
Basch - Red Mage
Ashe - Paladin
Balthier - Summoner

I always pick classes in EVERY FF! This is my topic! Hahaha!

It's actually hard in XII to keep the classes "clean" from unwanted abilities and it's something I hate! FFX is much better on this matter since you can skip things!


Anyway...


My classes are:


Vaan: Thief

Penelo: Black Mage/Time Mage

Ashe: White Mage/Summoner (like Reina, Aeris, Selphie, Dagger, Eiko, Yuna)

Bash: Knight

Balthier: Hunter/Chemist (like Vincent, Irvine)

Fran: Monk



But, as I said, it's not possible to keep them totally clean!

Penelo: Black Mage (staves, black magic)
Ashe: Paladin (Mace, shields, white magic)
Basch: Warrior (axes, swords, heavy armor)
Balthier: Gunner (guns, "special skills")
Fran: Lancer (some arcane magic, spears, heavier armor)
