So I'm trying to grow a beard, and as any of you who've seen recent pictures of me can no doubt tell, it's coming along slowly. I'm 1/16 Cherokee, so I don't grow beards particularly quickly or thickly.

But GOD DOES IT ITCH!!!

Is there anything I can do, short of shaving?

You can try conditioning it - helps but otherwise just gotta wait til it gets longer then the itch stops.

Place the area desired for beard growth next to a speaker with every single ZZ Top song playing simultaneously. Try to keep the sound waves away from the eyes unless you want a pair of sunglasses.

I feel like I should expand this to whether not not we like beards as well. Sorry if I'm hijacking your thread Spoony :p

I like beards on men but only if it's done right. I'm very picky when it comes to beards. For me it's either really sexy or really gross. There is little middle ground.

Observe:

Borderline right anyway.

As you can see, I'm really fussy. In general though, I can't really dislike stubble most of the time. Full beards are a slippery slope for me and I don't like them. Especially if they look hobofied.

Special mention goes to teenage scruffy beards that are just horrible on every level.

The itch is too distracting. I gave up and shaved, I have work to do.

For the above picture, that beard's alright I guess.

Formy is wrong, here. That beard is the most correct thing I've ever seen.

Formy's taste in beards makes me kind pity him a bit. Especially since he had Shia LaBeouf and Tobey Maguire as "Right" anythings.

Beards depend on the guy and the face and the color. Some guys looks good with them, without them, or some lucky devils can do both. I <3 beards.

Seriously. The fact that he's judged it as "alright" makes me question his taste.

You could put witch hazel to alleviate some of the itch.

I don't like any beards except for this one

Although to be fair, I still prefer this

I want either to have my facial hair (short of my moustache and "goatee") stop growing entirely or to miraculously grow a full beard. I am so fu ing frustrated with my facial hair. The right side of my face needs to be shaved every five hours mostly on my neck under my chin. The left side... every two days. WTF? I suppose I should be happy I never had this problem with my moustache.

If I could grow that beard right now, even with lady parts too, I would grow that beard.

So I read Formalhaut's post and threw up all over everything after looking at only the first pic, and then I saw Spooniest's post and I came...

I'm dealing with a lot of fluids right now, is what I'm saying.

Might want to get that checked out there Phil.

If I were you I'd be less worried about other people's bodily fluids and more worried about my own taste in bearded men ;)

Formy is to beards as Chris is to food. It is a pity my husband forbids the posting of his image, for he has a truly beautiful beard that would put all of you scruff-faces to shame.

I am incapable of growing a proper beard, despite my father having a beard for the last...40 years?
