No really.

Are you Googleable?

Either by your real name or your screen name?

I just had a nuclear panic attack. Like. I try to maintain a certain level of anonymity on the webz (like my last name and date of birth and location on teh Facebook being not right and not having a pic of myself on my blog), but it never occurred to me that someone could just Google my screen name and find -everything-. Literally. Pics I've edited in Photoshop, pics of -me-, profiles, forum threads, pictures of other people I know in some way or another..... Like. It's all there.

Thank God the email linked to my Facebook isn't associated with what I use now.

Also, my dad is googleable and so is my sister. With their real names.

I'm fairly safe. There's a Sarah Cobb Elementary School in Cobb County, Georgia, so anything remotely any which way between "Cobb" mostly points to that. Nothing in the first several pages of Sarah McKenzie Cobb, either.

Most of the demosthynes results on the first few pages are mine. aquabones is a fairly recent alias that doesn't bring up too many results that are mine.

I did find my twitter account that I made a few years ago, though, and it had been hacked by bots! Shut down initiated.

edit: oh, damnit, my itty bitty linkedin photo is near the top of the image search.

Googling my name brings up results for my facebook, my twitter, my blog, my G+ account, articles I wrote for The Courier-Mail, an article I was in for the Sunshine Coast Daily, and Queensland Athletics results.

Several photos of me come up in Google Images, and several photos of you guys as well. My results show foa, NCG, o_O and Fujiko, TSoL, as well as some meatspace friends.

I guess my privacy is limited?

Except when it comes to my screen name of course. That shit's all asian popstars and old sushi masters.

Anyone who is sufficiently skilled can find out basically anything about you on the Internet, and there isn't much you can do about it. I'd advise simply coming to terms with that fact.

My "real" name is exceedingly common (not quite John Smith, but pretty close), so you'd have to know something more about me. My screen name is easy to Google and you can find out plenty, including enough to track me down easily by my real name, if you really were inclined to do so.

My name is far too common, so any google search for my real name will not yield anything on me, just other more important people with my name. You won't find much with my screen name either.

No really.

Are you Googleable?

Either by your real name or your screen name?

Neither.

I once google'd my full name - First, Middle, Last - and combed through 100 full pages of Google before giving up. Not one result was me. You might be able to find me from adding some other details in but name alone isn't gonna do it.

"Pike" won't find me either, although "Pikestaff" will give you a couple of hits, albeit not many.

I'll be damned.

There's 3 other people in the U.S. with my name. My -real- name.

Apparently using my middle name during your search yields only a single result which is actually me, and it's like, nothing and suggests I still live in WY so it won't be much use. I haven't seen any EoFF results anywhere though.

Yah, my name/spelling is unique so the entire first page is all about me.

Just my LinkedIn profile. Nothing else is the real me.

Nothing for me for a good few pages on my full name. Nothing that I can see for my first name (top hit is still a girl from the Playboy Mansion). It's all good.

I have a rather unique full name so the front page is all me... everything from my Facebook, Behance, LinkedIn and MobyGames profiles...

Yes, but you'll only be getting my IMDB, portfolio website, Linkedin, Google+, and Youtube account. It's funny though because there is another girl with my name from Florida who is on mugshots.com and that's one of the things that used to come up on the first page. I need the internet exposure because it's helped my career. Media people love to google the shit of you before hiring you.

Well, yeah I'm easily googleable, as anyone who knows my name can probably guess. :p I find it amusing that one of the first page results is an image on Roogle's photobucket that's just my name black on white in a script font.

there are two people in the US with my first and last name (making me the only one with my middle name). the one who isn't me was caught with 104 pounds of marijuana in 2011. he's probably out of prison by now, though (he was sentenced to a year and a day).

I'm the only person in the world with my name so I have to monitor my Googleability. You can find out my birthdate, my home city, and the names of a few of my relatives but I think that's it.

My twitter and google+ I never use come up.
Theres also 1 image of me and for some bizarre reason a picture of a random friend of mine in the first line of google images.

Also, my username is SO safe.
About a year after I made this account a movie came out with my same name "TrollHunter".

My username on here just pulls up threads on this site and on the Disgaea fan forum I'm on. My other username I commonly use pulls up comments I made on deviantart, some stuff on here, comments I made on Xanga (my actual Xanga page doesn't exist anymore), some WoW stuff, youtube account, and I think that's it.

My first, middle, and last name just brings up school information (being on the dean's list at college, when I graduated, etc.)

First and last name brings up youtube videos I'm in that my college put up, my facebook and Linked-in, an article from my college newspaper talking about a conference I went to with a group of people, and another article which features me saying the food at my college sucked pretty much. You used to get my bad stats from the Redemption Nationals tournament, but I guess that is gone now.

Restricting myself to the first two pages unless stated otherwise...

Yahoo!: LinkedIn on the first page. EoFF on the fourth page.

Daniel Peter Towns - Nothin' much.
Google: EoFF, EoFF again (first two results).
Yahoo!: Nothin'.

"Daniel Peter Towns" - Gettin' there.

08-20-2013, 11:58 AM
Tasura A few years ago, the first few pages used to all be me, but now other people/things are creeping in. But things that are me, Youtube, Last.fm, Battle.net, MAL, Xbox, Raptr. And more stuff like that.

Narxis Steam, Xfire, LoL,

Narxis Zalfin (with and without a space) Steam, and the Steam Trading card Thread here.

My first and last name are also a famous musician and an author, so not a bit of me there. My full name also only links to famous people, unless I wrap it in quotes, in which case the only result is my EoY thread from almost 7 years ago xD.

Image wise, Tasura get's deviantArt, imgur, Xbox Avatar thing, and a few avatars and sigs I've used over the years.

Yes, yes it was, surprisingly enough but that is the only link. There is no other information, and nothing correspondingly comes up in the web search, unless it is further in. Though you have the unfair advantage of knowing that image is of me. :p

Apparently there is a Johnny Norris in Ireland who has published an instruction book on blues solos for acoustic guitar.

Which is yet another coincidence that makes me go :O_O:

Someday I'll write a book about them all.

Mo-Nercy
08-25-2013, 03:44 AM
A search of my real name brings up millions of results on millions of different people with the same name as me. So far, I've seen a Taiwanese human rights activist, someone who works for the Federal Highway Administration, quite a few doctors/professors/lawyers, a real estate agent, a photographer.. I'm up to Page 20 and still haven't come across me, so I give up.

A search of my screen name at first leads to a Google autocorrect to No Mercy. Once I got past that, I found that some dudes apparently have started up a Battlefield 3 clan and called it Mo Nercy.

Yerushalmi
08-25-2013, 12:42 PM
Searching for my name brings up a famous pulmonary specialist who dominates the first few pages of listings. Only two of the images on google image search's first ten lines are of me.

Interestingly, though, among Google's suggestions for other things to search for is the addition of the word "Israel" to my name. So you'll very quickly find my twitter account and a bunch of other stuff.

As for Yerushalmi - well, between the Talmud Yerushalmi, Yerushalmi Kugel, the Yerushalmi Card, and a million people whose names actually are Yerushalmi, there's no way you'll find anything about me in there.

There's a couple of things you can find on me, a number of them from when I've ran in elections, I think. I'm blessed/cursed with having a reasonably unusual nickname so there's not a lot of competition under my name.
