Square Enix have hopped on the trailer bandwagon as the biggest names in gaming converge at Gamescom in Cologne. Amongst the new trailers is a rather interesting one for Lightning Return's titled "The Savior's Choice." In it you're asked "who will you save" and "who will you sacrifice." Perhaps there's more to Lightning Return's than just the limited timeframe mechanic.

We also see Lightning fighting alongside Fang as well as Sazh being introduced. He appears to be in more of an ally role than the antagonist position Snow is being portrayed in.

What are your thoughts? Perhaps this sets us up for multiple endings? Will these decisions directly impact the story ala Mass Effect or maybe they open up new sidequests? We already know that there's going to be a New Game+ mode so it'll be interesting to see how these decisions tie into it.

Honestly, this game is looking better and better to me.

Dat Chocobo Remix at the end.

Already saw the trailer and I am super excited about it! The end made me laugh, the little chocobo chick is so adorable! :)

Any one know why Snow is bad? Or is made to look like the antagonist? Anakin Skywalker disease? Either way it looks like he ain't no hero no mo'.

The devs probably took the criticism from haters to heart and got rid of his overflowing optimism.

Not interested unless Snow kills Lightning. That would be A +Trolling.

Snow and Lightning being at odds is a good idea. It's hard for me to reconcile the idea that Sazh seems to be just sitting around. Last time his kid was "dead" he wanted to off himself and then decided fighting was the answer; why isn't he doing that now? (Of course he could very well be but his appearance in that trailer suggests a more morose and depressed approach than a resolute and determined one.)

Whatever happened to Dajh could have just happened, and so he might just be in a moment of grief/shock. I imagine we'll see (or hear) of him working to save Dajh. Unless all the crazy time/Valhalla stuff that happened in XIII-2 has altered the characters somehow so they aren't quite the same people that we knew from past games.

These become more and more like 'What if?' type storylines than something that represents actual progression following the events of FFXIII.
