I see we're undoing all of Christopher Nolan's great work and reverting back to campy Batman.

This is a situation in which it will be impossible to see Bruce Wayne. I will just see Ben Affleck. Hopefully this'll be one of those things that nobody expects to work and then it just does, but I don't see it.

Please cast Matt Damon as Superman now. If we're going to cast frat boys, might as go all-in on this train wreck.

Or, or. As The Joker.

edit: oh fuck it's batman-superman

Matt Damon as the Joker is probably the only thing they can do at this point.

I think it'll be great. Maybe Jay and Silent Bob could appear in the movie too.

Uh, Matt Damon should obviously be Robin, not the Joker.

I actually have no problem with Batman becoming "light" again, that's over half of Batman's history as a character, really. If they're going to insist on rebooting things constantly anyway they might as well alternate and go for extremely different 'visions.'

Nooooo. :(

And I mean that probably in a different way than y'all. Ben Affleck has been doing a god damn amazing job as a director these days. This is going to ruin him all over again! WTF Ben?! Whhyyyyy??? Why are you doing this to your career? Is it some sort of rule that every time you win an Oscar, you have to go and make stupid career decisions?!

The movie itself is probably going to be terrible regardless of who was cast as Batman. But damn, way to throw all that hard earned respectability down the drain.

What will they do when they make the Daredevil/Batman crossover movie?

Batman will be blind and Jennifer Garner will show up as Rachel.

You've read a lot of Batman, sir.

Seconded.

I say Johnny Depp for the Joker.

I like Affleck. Always have. He's been in some stinkers to be sure but when he has control over the film they're usually absolutely fantastic (The Town, Gone Baby Gone). Also he was great in Argo.

For me, everyone's reactions justify the decision, because it's already entertaining.

EDIT: Although you seem to like Afflect, to be fair, and I don't have any issue with him either so we're good. :aimsun:

I like Affleck, but my gut reaction is to be skeptical. But then I remember that everyone, myself included, had the same reaction to Heath Ledger as the Joker so I'm just going to wait and see.

I just can't take him seriously. All I can think of is his goofy, awkward sort of personality like in Armageddon or Jersey Girl. He is no Bruce Wayne. Also, he married J-Lo.

Which is why if they're going for campy, well, okay, he might work.

If they're using Frank Miller, they're not going for campy after all. Awesome.

Pitting against eachother could be interesting, though. I wonder how that will play out.

If you wanted to maximize the chances of a decent Batman film with Ben it would certainly be this.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I'll be okay with this if they make it a little campy.

I see nothing wrong with Ben Affleck being cast as Batman, nor do I think that every future Batman movie should try to replicate the Nolan franchise.

Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and JGL were all great in the Nolan franchise and I find them all to portray much more interesting characters than Batman, which is a shame because they may not even make it into the movie.

Okay, I've done a complete 180 on this and have decided that, not only will Ben Affleck be good, but he will be my favorite Batman ever.

It's not even possible to top My Cocaine or Gary Oldman though.

Seeing all the Heath Ledger hate dredged up just makes me sad 'cause we lost a great and clearly underrated man :( I don't really care, I like Bale's rendition of Batman but Affleck could do a good job in a different kind of way. I'll pass judgement once I've seen it :monster:

I remember hearing about this a few days ago and all I could say was "oh well, we'll see what he does." It's really not that big a deal, he's an actor because he can act. I'm sure he'll be able to pull off batman/bruce wayne.

I really dislike Ben Affleck as an actor and as a person with a face that I want to punch. His huge douchebag face better be under that mask for a majority of the film.
