So as some of the chat people may know I will be doing an event for charity. On Saturday the 31st of August I'm abseiling the world famous Battersea Power Station (yes the huge smurfoff building on Pink Floyd's Animals album cover) I'm not great with the sensation of vertigo so it's going to be fairly amusing watching me scale the side of the building and I promise one way or another we'll film it.

Now the event is for Cancer Research UK and to fulfill my end of the bargain I need to raise £200 in a week! My work is going to help but I figure the lovely people here at EoFF although many are not from the UK may want to donate for this. Therefore shameless self advertising.

To donate some money to a very worthwhile cause and make my awesome new housemate who works for Cancer Research UK very happy please, please click on the below link and donate, even if it's like £1 or so.

A worthy cause for sure, unfortunately the rules state that self-advertising is to be promoted via a link in your sig and not in its own thread. :) Best of luck though.

I raised money through a race I was doing a couple of years back. I publicly announced that if I raised $3000 I would do a subsequent race in the Borat swimsuit (http://resources2.news.com.au/images/2008/01/28/va1237288862312/Borat-Supplied-5862946.jpg). Alas, I only raised $2200 and kept my dignity (what little of it I have left).

I'd chalk that up to not asking Parker for donations.

I guess donating blood counts as charity right?

I will give you the remaining $800 if you do it anyway.

I did an AIDS walk with my sister in highschool.

I was also going to the Christian school then. One of my teachers flat out said she wouldn't donate cuz most people that contract AIDS are gay and she doesn't support that lifestyle. My jaw dropped.

I won't donate to charity nowadays unless I know most of my money will actually go to the cause and not paying board members.
