When you are just aching in thirst for something to drink, what is your immediate craving for?

If I am dying of thirst, all I want is a vanilla coke. I need it. Cherry coke is an acceptable follow-up. Yeah, I know water's best when you're super thirsty and dehydrated, but I give no smurfs.

If I'm really thirsty then a big glass of water or a juicy orange.

I always want to drink the same things, regardless of whether I'm thirsty.

Orange juice, cranberry juice, real Coke (not god damn American High Fructose Corn Syrup garbage), water, and basically any fizzy wine regardless of its quality.

I am drinking from a gallon jug of orange juice as I submit this.

Orange juice, lemonade, ginger ale, and water probably make up at least 80% of what I drink. Sometimes it's close to 100%.

I used to like various soft drinks besides ginger ale but I've gone off most of them.

Unsweetened Iced Tea. Extra strong, with lots of ice. O.M.G.

No seriously. I'll use a family sized cold brew tea bag in 1 big glass. Sooo yummy.

Or iced water.

.............................................................. Oh screw it. Beer too.

If it's actual physical thirst, the only drink I crave is water. Absolutely nothing else satiates thirst as well. The only thing that really comes close for me is whole milk.

Water has become my drink of choice over the past couple of weeks so definitely that.
Sodas make me feel like crap now and juice never really quenches my thirst.

I'm downing a 750ml bottle of water as we speak.

If I'm trying to limit my caloric intake ... Or rather ... We have no food ... I'll drink a ton of water during the day.

If I'm like dying of thirst, then water, preferably cold, is just... the best. Hands down. Iced water is heavenly.

If I'm only slightly thirsty or just wanting to drink something, then a nice fruit juice, or coke (VANILLA COKE, OH MY GOD) is also great.

Half the time, water. The other half of the time, tea... usually green tea or chamomile. Or masala chai.

Semi-related to this thread, when I worked at a restaurant, long ago, I always found it really weird that Europeans always requested "no ice" in all their drinks, and Americans basically always wanted it and thought it was kind of a stupid question.

Yeah, many of my friends often say 'No ice'. I personally don't understand it, because it's the ice that just MAKES the drink in my eyes. I love ice in my drinks.

I take a little bit of ice, but not much. Reason being if your cup is full of ice, there's less room for what you're trying to drink!

There's a reason A&W doesn't put ice in the root beer.

Because it waters down the root beer, which is why they chill the glasses. You won't get ice in their paper cups either.

Well, I'm not sure what else to call them. The same cups you get at any fast food restaurant are the ones they give you when you hit the drive through. Pretty sure they're made of some variety of paper.

But it doesn't mean I can't be sad about it. If I ran a famed Root Beer franchise, the only options I'd have available would be glass mugs (for 'dining in') and glass bottles (for 'dining out'). I guess that's one of many reasons I don't run a Root Beer franchise.

PAPER CUPS MAKE EVERYTHING TASTE WORSE. So do plastic bottles, although I still tolerate juice in them.

Grape drank. I will look at the water, orange juice, and grape juice in the fridge and despite my best judgement, I'll go "no I want the grape drank".

If not icewater then sweet tea. But usually, if I'm thirsty, ice water. Tea I'll drink with a meal.

I don't necessarily crave a particular drink. I mean sometimes you just want some water. Maybe you got a hankering for a milkshake. Other times I just gotta get some ginger ale in me. Perhaps I need a bit o' that fizz and shoot for a vanilla coke or something. It all depends, man.

I tell you what though. Powerade after exercise is probably as good as... well my analogy is terribly inappropriate so let's just say "as good as"

All I drink is mineral water and water (and sometimes if I'm being sneaky and I've just played drums or sport I'll have a gatorade).

I found a place in Australia that sells Cherry Coke but it turns out I can't drink it without being reminded of Five Guys so I never do :(

If I'm really really thirsty, ice cold water. Other favourites are tea, lucozade, fresh orange juice or blackcurrant cordial with lemonade.

If I'm really thirsty, just sparkling water or regular tap water.
