So I've been lurking around here a bit lately and find myself utterly confused as to who is who. Some of you have kept the same name or avatar since I originally joined (which I think was 10 or 11 years ago. WTF) and some of you are just trying to make my life difficult.

I used to be Lekana. Then I wanted to represent my FF love, so I changed to freya. I've now been freya longer than I was Lekana

I joined as "Gir" after a cartoon character mostly because I'd been using the name everywhere else as well. However I quickly realized that I wanted my "own" name as opposed to a gimmicky one. I began using the chatroom (I was mostly a chatter in those days) as Pike and pretty soon after I changed my forum name to Pike as well.

These days I never use the name except for here, I usually just go with Mitch which is my real-life knickname.

I registered with this name since I was playing Suikoden II at the time and he was my favourite character.

If I tried to change it to something else, I'd probably just get instantly denied.

After several violent battles and horrific wars, the mercenary suffered many an injury, losing limbs and becoming so scarred as to be unrecognizable as a human being. Complicated surgeries and bio-mechanical implants imparted the jack with cybernetic limbs and eyes and "he" became known as Mercen-X... or so the legend goes. Years later when the merck's trademark motorcycle helmet was removed, it was discovered that "he" was just a normal person whose name was... Mercen-X.

TL;DR... Long before I was Mercen-X... I was always Mercen-X. I did try to change my name at one point to Söldner-X which just means Mercen-X in German.

Yeah, I gave up on trying to figure out who people are. I am too lazy to go to the profile and check so I just assume it's someone who's already changed it more than twice already.

I have only changed my username once and it was just to a shorter name. I think Shlup changed my name once, Psy twice, and maybe Del Murder one time.

I had a bunch of dumb names, and then Denmark, which I've had since 2003 or something like that. That's fine by me. I wouldn't know what to change it to, and lots of people just call me Rob anyway.

I started off as Agent Proto. Had some different names from time to time. Some notable ones include Preton, and Protozoa. I was also Blues Agent for about a year. Then I went back to Agent Proto. Besides, most people would call me Proto regardless of my screen name, that or Jeff.

Das Lynx. I joined the forum because I knew Citizen Bleys and Raistlin, people I had met via AO and PI, and thought they were lovely company. I used this moniker as an aberration of Genius Lynx because Bleys was nicknaming me and heck, why not? But then I realized it felt too stiff, militaristic, and German for a dumb American, so after Shlup put me through a minor genderbending event, I moved onto bigger, better things...

Genius Lynx. This dumb name (what a great name) was the result of a Metal Gear Solid Codename Generator. Put in a name and get a codename, simple as that. Well, he was, people loved it, but then people started confusing me with Big Ugly Umaro (BOU), a Recognzied Member from back in the day. That was flattering, but nothing sucks more when your secret identity is similar enough to another person's identity that you keep getting stopped to talk about the heydays you never had. Also, I totally got to design on of my favorite avatar and signature sets ever, and that was awesome. However, no one wanted to type this name out and I do not blame them. BMIWBR? rubah in particular was not pleased and when another year blew around, she was like, "Can I change your name? I am going to change your name..."

Garnet Eiko LAX 2009 EXTREME. I do not even. It has Garnet and Eiko in it because IX is great? And LAX in it because Los Angeles is where she wanted to be? And 2009 because it was 2008/2009? First I was Pure Quin14, then I wasn't. For a good few years, I changed my name into some troutey pun of Quin every year; Quin 'n' Tonic, Harle-Quin (honestly never knew who Harley Quinn was until after getting this name!), and some others. Was Flambard, was Quin, was Sir Topham Hatt for a while, but everyone shat themselves inside out at the idea, and I couldn't find a good set for it anyway. Now my name changes whenever an admin finds a good enough pun. I can't remember who arranged Quint Eastwood, but by god do I love this set. Marston; check. Poncho; check. Henry Repeater; check. Locky is a goddess.

I asked to have the ae changed back to how it originally was, because æ is kind of a pain to type. Instead of changing my name back, though, someone decided to add a filter just for my name out of spite.
