Former Nintendo President Dies at 85 - IGN (http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/09/19/former-nintendo-president-dies-at-85)

Hiroshi Yamauchi, the former president of Nintendo from the 1940's to 2002, is dead.
Under this man's leadership, Nintendo saved the video game world in the 1980's, and created some of the best games that have ever been released.

He kind of invented gaming as we know it. I read a few years ago that Iwata only recently surpassed the success of the NES and Game Boy with the Wii and DS. When you factor in the lengths they had to go to make those systems as accessible as they were, it is damn impressive that Nintendo were able to do what they did in the 80s. They changed the world.

I'm having a hard time thinking of many people with a more significant impact on the games industry than Mr Yamauchi. I think it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that he changed the lives of literally every single person on this site. R.I.P. :(
