View Full Version : Odds or Evens?

Do you prefer odd or even numbers?

I prefer odds. 1, 3, 5, 7, 9. I dunno why, I just prefer them much more to evens. When I set the volume on my car stereo or tv, I always have to put it on an odd number or a multiple of ten. If it's not on an odd number, I will sit there and twitch until it gets changed. (I guess I could have mentioned this in the recent OCD thread.)

I can't choose. Fav numbers are 1, 2, 6, 7, 8. This is too hard. :(

proof that Shorty is crazy:

Given: Shorty loves odd numbers and multiples of 10.
Given: Shorty twitches at even numbers.
All multiples of 10 are multiples of 2, and are even numbers by definition of even number.
Therefore Shorty loves a subset of the even numbers.
However, if Shorty twitches at even numbers, then Shorty would twitch at a subset of even numbers.
Therefore, Shorty twitches at something she loves.
Therefore Shorty is crazy.

I like perfect numbers a lot. I also love perfect squares. Another favorite of mine are numbers such that the sum of all the digits is a multiple of 10. 64 is a marvelous number.

I know that tens are even numbers. :( They are the exception!

The correct term is special case. ;)

Also you are assuming crazy is a bad thing.

Wanna hear something else? I prefer symmetry in most all things, but I dislike the number two. But I associate it with symmetry because of the two "sides" of whatever that need to be symmetrical. So I'm torn. :(

10, 20, 30, etc are all okay because they are multiples of 5 jesus christ qwerty get with the oc disorder program

yes. they are a subset of multiples of two as well, and the definition of an even number is that it is a multiple of 2.

I, too, can only listen to volume at an even number or multiple of 5. The number 4 is the best number, however.

I love even numbers. 8 Is my favorite number and even that has the same even sides.

the oc disorder

Don't call it that.

Individually, I prefer odd numbers. 13 is a much more pleasant number than 12 or 14. But I do like the even numbers when they're listed out. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10. It's a good scale. Using multiples of 5 or better yet 10 for settings and such is a given, though. When I'm at an item store in an FF game, for example, I like to even out the numbers of items I hold by buying or selling as needed.

I'm an even number person totally.

Oddly enough, so is my sister. haha.

Your proof contains the superfluous statement "Shorty loves odd numbers" and is thus inelegant.

I was born on an even day in an even month on an odd year. Therefore I like odds half as much as I do evens.

444 444 4 44 444 444 444444 444 444 4444444444 4 444 4 44 4

I was born on a day with 4 9's in it, so odd.

The best numbers are the ones that end in zero. Also fives are super elegant.

God those are some gorgeous numbers right there

My OCD tendencies about symmetry extend to numbers as well. Odd numbers bother me. Prime numbers make my skin crawl.

I don't like numbers that end in anything except a 0 but 5s are okay as well. If I see a number I try to consolidate it down with this weird and frankly nonsensical thing I have in my brain. Say I see the number 5246 someplace. I'll go "5 x 2 = 10 and 4 + 6 = 10 so this number is okay" because both 'sides' can be reduced to the same number, and the fact both are 10 is a bonus.

Odd? Even? Smurfing plebs.

Give me 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 ... any day of the week. Multiples of 5 and 10 are however sometimes acceptable substitutes.

Madame Adequate

So evens then.

Not all evens, and not because they're even. THERE'S A DIFFERENCE.

I like combinations of 2s and 7s. 27 is a magical number in very many ways, and 1972 is a very attractive number.

Multiples of 5s and 10s for things are the best. If I can't have that, then any even number.

pls. the best numbers are the perfect numbers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfect_number). and the smallest perfect number is 6, which just so happens to be my favorite number.
