Has anyone listened to this?

I recently also got Katy Perry's Prism, and while I ADORE some of the songs on it, I think overall, there are more awesome songs on Gaga's Artpop than on Prism as a whole.

I just love Artpop. It's exactly the kind of music I expect from Gaga, a bit weird, catchy, saucy, and full of POP goodness. I don't think she's 'revolutionised' pop, but she's made a damn good record that's better than Born This Way.

I honestly didn't even realize Lady Gaga was still around.

I had never listened to a Gaga album before, so I decided to give Artpop a try. I'm not a music snob, and I enjoy a couple of her older songs, but the songs on this album are just plain boring, or just plain... bland. As I understand it, Artpop, is a shift for Gaga, and it suffers from being overproduced. Also, "Swine", is quite possibly the most embarrassing song I have ever heard by anyone.

I have been a failure of a Gaga fan recently, as I have hardly listened to anything she has released since she came back from her little hiatus.

I need to get back on this.

It's cuz she wasn't stoned while making the album.

She admitted that she used to have to be high in order to be creative and that she was rly addicted to pot and later pain killers after breaking her hip, but she got herself off of all of it.

What I've heard so far I like far more than her last album. I live the fame and fame monster but then she tried too hard to put crap in the meanings of the song. So far what I've heard of art pop, I like.

I love me some Gaga but yeah I've been losing interest since her album quality has on the decline for a while (IMO). As in: The Fame was great, The Fame Monster was pretty good, but Born This Way was just decent. I will probably still look into this one, though!

I'm listening to it and reserving final judgment for now. The reason for this is that I wasn't at all impressed with Born This Way at first, but over time I came to love it, so I don't want to condemn this too soon. But this doesn't seem to have anything on it like Hair or Judas or Bad Kids, all songs I loooove, nothing that's really catching me or standing out.

^ e; yeah I don't agree with a lot of that review because no duh Gaga's whole schtick is fame and self-absorption and that's the point but I think he's bang on the nose when he says this sounds like we expect a Lady Gaga album to sound and that's... not why people love her.

Occasionally I get very sad that Lady Gaga never got to meet Salvador Dali/Avida Dollars, so it makes me feel much better that she has been able to devote herself to the instruction of Marina Abramovic for a few months. I haven't listened to Artpop yet, but will likely eventually give it a go.

Speaking of recording artists who are also visual artists, I strongly second krissy's recommendation that you all check out M.I.A.'s Matangi, as she continues to reclaim the concept of "otherness" and "exoticism" and use it to define her image and her art on her own terms. Live fast, die young, bad girls do it well!

No love for Edge of Glory, Hux?

I do like it a lot, but the three I posted are definitely my faves from the album!

Gaga's got the right idea, if you ask me. I like her style and passion.
