Morgan Freeman has announced on his official twitter (see link at bottom of post) that he will be costaring in the Shawshank Redemption 2. Apparently the story will be a Prequel/ Sequel which will visit Red's early life, trial, and first twenty years of incarceration. Morgan Freeman will be playing Red at somepoint after the events of the Shawshank Redemption.
Currently the film is still in the proccess of being written, and they have yet to cast an actor to play the young Red.

I don't know how to feel about this. :(
I love the original, and I have to wonder if they really have any right to touch a work of art like this
Okay, the real topic of this thread, Should some movies be considered precious art like the Mona Lisa, unchangeable and set in stone, or should creators be free to do with their creations as they please. To a certain extent I think people should always be able to make their art better, add more detail, flesh out that leaf a little better, but Better is a subjective term.
