You don't need to put corned beef with anything; you can just eat it straight up because it's amazing

It's super oily and rubbery. Pass.

Corned beef, cabbage, and potatoes. So yummy ... It's so good even the picky ass cat likes it.

Gotta get the cut that has more fat on it though so that the meat gets rly tender. And of course add a bottle or can of beer to the pot.

Is this like a British thing or what? I've never even seen this stuff outside Harry Potter.

Seeing as most of the people posting in the thread are not British... :greenie:

Like I said, before this thread, I only heard of corned beef in Harry Potter. That's all I have to go off. There are plenty of British things that have made their way over seas. Remember the Beatles?

Corned beef is amazing. I can whip up a good meal with them. Dice up some potatoes and tomatoes and add them into some corned beef and serve with rice.

Eh. Seemingly it's associated with Irish food in the Americas, but I don't think anyone knows the exact country it came from. ;P It could be one of the British Isles. Maybe.

Must Google this.

pfffffffft. History Channel says it originated in America, picked up by Irish immigrants as a cheaper alternative to pork.

So corned beef and cabbage is an American thing, but still essentially Irish.

So really, it's about as Irish as fortune cookies are Chinese.

Everyone should definitely try corned beef hash over rice. It's a staple of Filipino food. :D

I love corned beef, I make a mean corned beef stew.

I do believe it became popular in the UK during the war time because of it's longevity and versatility. I'm p. sure my Nana probably still has a can from 1945 in her bomb shelter.

For once I actually agree with Chris about something food related. :o

INB4 he says he was just joking and actually thinks corned beef is gross.

I prefer cornered beef. Get a bunch of people to surround a cow wielding cattle prods.

o.O canned corn beef? That's what my BF thought of it as. I nearly died and then made him -actual- corned beef & cabbage. lol He makes me cook it every week now.

Meh, I have been over-exposed to it in the past. It is alright, I supposed.

Pot roast *drools* with carrots and potatoes. Ain't no need for making no damn gravy of any sort.

I wanna make a big slicey down roast (standing rib roast? To make prime rib? IDK. It's what my mom calls it)...

Why would you ruin corned beef with hash? Boil that shit up and just take bites out of it.

That corned beef hash looks yummy! I am not very fond of corned beef, really, but I might like it better from an authentic Irish place.

I don't understand what the hash part is. There's no hash in it. Believe me, I tried to smoke it.
