So I just came back to this site and have found some random bits of black (slowing revealing itself into a black triangle) on random area's of the site.... now I have only today installed a new GPU and am slightly worried, is this one of many EoFF pranks? Or did I buy a faulty GPU?

Can you take a screenshot? If you're in Windows, hit the Print Screen key on your keyboard. This will copy to your clipboard an image of what you see on you screen. Then go into MS Paint, or into any other graphics program, and Paste from the clipboard. Save that as an image file and upload it as an attachment to your post so we can see what you see.

Starts off like so: http://i.imgur.com/0TWasfq.png

End up like this if I scroll up and down: http://i.imgur.com/OKsjI3z.png

It disappears if I move it out of the browser frame.

Does this happen only in Firefox, or in other programs also? What video card are you using?

I found something that suggests Firefox's hardware acceleration isn't compatible with some video cards and it can cause this kind of error. Try turning hardware acceleration off in Firefox. In the Firefox menu, "Options" -> "Advanced" -> under "General", uncheck "Use hardware acceleration when available".

Tested on both Chrome and *shudder* IE, neither showed this.

Search google for "firefox black squares bug" (https://www.google.com/search?q=firefox+checkerboard+gpu#q=firefox+black+squares+bug) and a lot of hits come up. Example https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes

A lot of these issues seem to be people with HD78xx video cards, is that what you have? Are you running the latest video card drivers and latest version of Firefox etc.?

Try Firefox in safe mode? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Maybe there's an extension doing something bad. You could always try re-seating your video card. Honestly I'm just randomly guessing ideas now.

I have a feeling that this is a video card and/or driver thing. Example: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68410

^ this is for Linux but I bet it's related. It has to do with Intel drivers. Maybe try updating them? http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/

I did what you suggested and restarted Firefox in safemode and now it appears to have fixed the problem, I shall investigate which one of my extensions is the culprit.

Was a good idea, but I already checked that ; ; thanks anyways :D
