View Full Version : Do You Hear Yourself?

Ok. Apparently my ears don't work right or something.

When I hear myself talk, I feel like I have a higher pitched voice than I actually do. Then I'll hear my voice on something - whether it's me singing myself, or telling Parker something while -she-'s singing and it sounds deeper than what I hear.

It's weird.

Does anyone else kinda deal with this?

Are you talking about recordings of yourself sounding different than how you hear yourself?

Yeah that's an everyone thing.

It's the way sound reverberates in your skull or something. That's why everyone hates the way they sound in a recording.

Is it? I thought it was one of those "there's something wrong with me" things.

This is why I don't record my voice with anything.

I'm sure there are other things wrong, you'll find em ! :D

Oh there's endless things wrong with me.

Haven't you figured that out yet?

When I hear myself through recordings or something, it sounds higher-pitched than it does in my head :stare: I dislike my voice.

I hate my normal voice too..

So when I record, I do it at a much higher pitch so that it sounds closer to what I sound like in my head.

I'm a vampire so I actually can't hear my own voice.

I think I talk like a regular person, then it turns out I'm Scottish.

I think my voice sounds deeper to me than it is. But who knows.

Stop talking while looking at a mirror. I got a couple of vampire buddies and they say that helps. Not much you can do about that whole sun deal, which sucks, but it is what it is.

My voice is way too deep for it's own good. I don't know what it's problem is but I don't like it one bit.

I thought a deep voice was pretty much always a good thing.

I don't like the way I sound even in my own head so I try to speak as little as possible. It breeds a nice mysterious vibe too.

Yeah my voice sounds higher to me in my head. When I hear myself echoing over Skype or the phone I sound deeper.

I don't have that interesting of a voice either in my head or in recordings, but it doesn't really bother me anymore. After doing silly podcasts in middle school and recording other random stuff with my roommates, I've gotten used to it. The only time my voice really bothers me in recordings is when I think I've nailed something when I'm singing (as it sounds great in my head), but then the quality is just way different in the recording.

I sometimes think I have potential to have a great singing voice until I record it and then I set my computer on fire so no one will ever discover that file.

sorry but a lol'd so hard xD

this is exactly what i think whenever i record myself

my voice is deeper then i hear it in a way but because i have a weak voice and it is more of a low mumble then i am not suprized xD i think i sound like a drunk grandma and i am not sure if it is a exaggeration or not.

but yeah i think it is normal for everyone. my marm says her voice sounds deeper when she leaves a note on the tele and my dad probably realized it ages ago so he never comments ;o

I sound like my brothers, so I am used to the way I sound in recordings.
