HD remake

Do you think this title would benefit from an HD remake?
I've been playing it heavily for the last 18 hours and while I am enamored with the visuals and the character design I would definitely love to see it remade so that the characters are much more smooth.

Honestly, I would just love having this game at a higher resolution with minor touch ups (such as characters being more smooth as you said). Do that and shorten the load times, that's all I could ever need. Honestly, that's what Square should have been doing with these recent PC rereleases rather than selling inferior ports with uninspired achievements and easy ways to cheat.

i've been playing the psx release on my vita, so i'm not having much of an issue with load times

I think ix is solid as is, maby a graphics update...just want a remake of VIII

I just assumed even the PSN releases of the ps1 trilogy had the same load times and such. I'm pretty sure people complained about that with the psn versions of V and VI. I never really had an issue with load times to begin with, but a lot of people seem to take issue with it.

If the battle load times aren't an issue then I have zero issues with IX. IX is great to me, but the load times have always annoyed me to no end, but I'm a very impatient person I suppose. I would not object to an HD version either though. Hell, I wouldn't object to a remake either, as long as it comes after the classics, as should all the Playstation titles.

I'm indifferent towards HD in general because most of the time I can't tell the difference. Only interested in X because it has new content never before released in America. So if said IX HD came with that, sure.

I would love one, but the fact is, remaking anything from PS1, especially a huge RPG like this, would be far too cost prohibitive to do. Square Enix wont risk it, and if they do ever decide to remake a PS1 ff, it's going to be 7, which is guaranteed to be the easiest sell.

I would rather have a 3DS or Vita enhanced port in the vein of Ocarina of Time 3D that bumps up the quality of the character models and textures, but it's still the same game at its core. I think if it were to be put on consoles, that would require a lot more work that Square might not necessarily be willing (or capable) of putting in.

Gonna third that notion. Trouble is I'm sure Sony will have something to say about it, so maybe a Vita release would be more likely.

None of the PSone FFs have aged particularly well and FFIX has such a lovely and charming world that I think would look nice if raised to HD. I do think it'd be nice to keep the whimsical feel rather than going for an ultra realistic theme.

I would love to see this happen. Like, as much as I abhor the remake mentality that SE have, Final Fantasy IX would be a beautiful world realised in high def. Of course, it would need to keep the same style, as Psychotic says; if they remove that cartoony feel then everything is fucked

Ain't that the truth. My eyes needed time to adjust when I went back to play VIII this week.
