Most you are probably gonna be like "Dirge of Cerberus was complete S#!T" or something dumb like that. Personally i loved it, it was my favorite shooter game as a kid, it gave us good background story to the original final fantasy 7 and i loved Vincent Valentine! Sure it hat it's cons too but overall i think it's a pretty good game for a shooter that was made on the ps2. It was a good change from seeing Cloud, Sephiroth and Zack in the main picture for once and i loved how it also had some good rpg elements to it. I was just wondering what everyone's opinion towards this game, because i think it is the most overlooked chapter of the final fantasy 7 series :/

The most overlooked chapters are actually the novel and Before Crisis. Final Fantasy VII Before Crisis, Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VII On the Way to a Smile, Final Fantasy VII Advent Children, Final Fantasy VII Dirge of Cerberus. And some other stuff peope don't know.

I love Dirge of Cerberus because it is Final Fantasy VII and it shows what was confirmed in 2008: The Compilation is not over yet. Of course Sephiroth also confirmed that with his last line.

I also liked Dirge quite a bit. It's pretty fun to play.

I played about a third of this and then quit because I got bored... it is much like Final Fantasy XII in that regard

Nothing against people who liked it of course!

I loved it, but I got some extra enjoyment out of it because on top of liking Vincent I knew two role-players who used him as the pic base for their character that I really liked so it felt like I was playing as those characters too and I have a love for third-person shooters in general so there was that as well. I got stuck on the part with the frigging snipers before I gave up.

I'm still waiting if something is ever going to come out of Genesis

I couldn't finish it. It didn't feel like a FF, and it didn't really feel like a good game. The characters were neat though.

The worst thing about the game is that it really skews my original impression of Lucrecia. I thought she was maybe a bit dim or naive but not a horrible person. DoC leaves no doubt in my mind he's just as awful as Hojo himself.

Other than that though, I thought it was okay. It had some great music.

Shelke was the best character.

There is part of me that feels deep regret in selling it to afford a one-way ticket to Canada (I didn't want to stay, I just couldn't afford the return trip), but there wasn't a lot of discovery to the game. I unlocked the extra scene with Genesis. I was officially done. I would buy a re-release if it offered a little more.
The most overlooked chapters are actually the novel and Before Crisis. What do you mean by overlooked? You mean that most English-speaking American won't try to obtain a bootleg copy of something they can't read or understand? If Before Crisis was released on some handheld in America in English, I would definitely buy it. This despite the fact, I've already learned all I can about it by reading wikis and what I gather the gameplay doesn't sound appealing.

Ugh, this game had some straight up terrible level design, shotty hit detection, and poorly implemented systems. I know without a doubt I can create something better than this.

Does anyone but me find it hilarious that the same guy, Paul Eiding, voices Colonel Campbell and Hojo?

That man has some talent.

Wait, he does? That's awesome! He did the voice for Mephisto in Diablo II as well. The guy gets around.

It looks a little cool, just from watching the gameplay :)

I really loved this game.

It let me do something I had always wanted to do, which was explore the destroyed Shinra HQ. I got giddy with excitement just standing outside of the wrecked skyscraper and taking it all in.

I liked how fun it was to use the limit breaks as well as explore Cid's new airship.

I bought it the day it was released, and quit playing it the day it was released. I should have read what it was going to be like instead of buying it because it had Final Fantasy in the title. I just could not do it.

It's not my kind of game either. I used cheat codes to beat it.

Story gets a .....5/10
Music gets a 7.5/10
Gameplay gets a Useless Double Jump and Invisible Walls and Keycards/10

Still love Shelke. Her and Vincent are my FFVII OTP. Something uniquely beautiful about guy chronologically pushing about 50 but who can't ever age gets it on with a girl about 20 who looks like she's nine because she also can't age. Oh and she has the memories and consciousness (kinda. I forget) of Vincent's dead love in her head.
