The Return of Community

So.... as many of you on here may or may not know, Community, the NBC comedy returns on January 2nd after an extremely uneven, some would even say disaster of a 4th season. Creator/mastermind/insane person Dan Harmon returns to the fold this time around and has already been talking about making Season 4 a distant memory. I had the good fortune to get a pre-screening of the first episode of this season and all I will say is, Harmon was sorely missed. That spark of insanity that also is what made the show so unique seems to have returned and while I don't want to jinx anything, I think the show we all loved may just get its mojo back.

So, for all you Human Beings out there, what do you hope we see this season? Are you willing to give it another shot? Or did you enjoy Season 4 and don't understand the hubbub around Harmon's return? Or do you think the show has been Britta'd beyond repair?

I'm not sure if that music video is insane or brilliant. Probably both. Kind of reminds me of a gimmick poster on AVClub who does rappin' Jake Sisko for Deep Space nine updates.

I have high hopes for this season, not just because it can't be worse then season 4 or because Harmon is back, but because Jonathan FREAKING Banks is going to be in most episodes and John Oliver will be back. You can't go wrong with those two. Though losing Donald Glover mid-season will definitely hurt and despite being a B in real life, I still love Chevy Chase and miss him too.

This is pretty much how I feel about Season 4. It's not the show's best but I did enjoy it. I think what was so massively disappointing about it for most people was just knowing how much better the show had been in the past.

Donald Glover isn't leaving, his role is just being reduced so he can work on other projects, namely Atlanta​. He'll appear in 5 of the 13 planned episodes.

Season 4 was weak, but not completely terrible. There were still several laughs and it was, at the very least, enjoyable to watch. Hopefully with Harmon returning the show can get back to its roots but I wouldn't be surprised if this was the last season.

I'm the only person I know that watches this. I choose to believe I'm better than them.

I didn't think season 4 was all that bad. They seem to have a lot of drama going on with Chevy Chase. I remember reading somewhere (no source alert) that the new writers brought in were being asked to pump out scripts so fast they were writing lines on set. Considering the clustersmurf they were thrown into, they managed.

I really liked Cooperative Polygraphy. It was funny, of course, and sentimental, like blackmage_nuke said. I also liked the character depth in this one (as I always have), particularly the study group's relationships with each other, and admittances to the mistakes they've made. I've always fond of the way this show handled friendships. And that last bit with Troy wanting to take Pierce's bequeathment (THE BOAT IS NAMED THE CHILDISH TYCOON FFS :crying:) and everyone's reaction to it made me feel things. :<

I thought this was a pretty good episode. I like the way they're building Hickey's relationship with each of the other characters, and I enjoyed seeing his and Annie's dynamic. I also enjoyed the not-GoT jokes and the ending tag. XD

So, last night's episode, Bondage and Beta Male Sexuality, wasn't my favorite (and apparently a lot of reviews said the same thing (http://community-tv.livejournal.com/1159084.html)), but I did enjoy seeing Abed/Hickey bond, as well as Chang's and Duncan's parts (but not so much Jeff's). The end tag cracked me up.

Yeah, I was afraid for Abed's sake because I didn't want him to lose another person close to him, especially after Troy. But I'm glad they worked it out.

I think this episode would be better in my mind had there not been the first one. I just think that first episode was much more satisfying all in all. This episode was full of great moments, though. The episode felt kind of rushed to me, honestly.

It was fun having Tobias Funke (whatever the actual actor's name is) in the episode. Also, while the ending felt like it wasn't much of a conclusion, part of me feels like it was purposefully done to give the same notion Hickey had when Abed let the necromancer escape. We honestly don't need to see who won in the end (if either of them did win).

I agree with both of the above posts. Honestly, I would have liked it to be a two parter that either switches between the cartoon and real world stuff, or had a live action episode which lead into the cartoon version.

Well, I liked the episode for the most part, but didn't love it. If they had spent more time with Jeff's problem and less on riffing on cartoon world vs. real world, then I might've felt more emotionally involved. Like the rest of you, it would have worked better as a two-parter so that it didn't feel force/rushed.

So this episode wasn't bad. I'm used to being on the Jeff x Annie wagon (I know... leave me alone), but Jeff x Britta does make sense and I don't mind it. And for some reason, I thought some of Abed's parts seemed a little forced, but I don't know if that's just me.

This episode also made me hungry.

Yeah it's pretty cool that this series keeps getting revived but at this point it's more of a shadow of itself. Seasons 1-3 made it worth fighting for but I can see Bunny's point at this stage.

I'm a huuuuge Community fan, but this season has been pretty hit or miss for me. I think my favorite episode this season is Advanced Safety features. I also really, really love the B-story in Basic Crisis Room Decorum.

Pretty funny season finale but for something with no definite future it doesnt feel like a series finale. I miss the 22 ep seasons.

Did anyone else notice after he dropped annie and abed off at the airport when theyre back at the bar theres some guy staring at them from the bathroom? Whats up with that? A clue for the movie/season 7?

The teaser for the finale didn't impress me, so I'm very happy that the actual episode itself exceeded my expectations. Liked it a lot. I'm thinking of watching it again, actually.

And I did notice that guy in the background staring! I was wondering what that could mean.

Also, I was so used to Community being on TV that I kept doing double takes whenever they said the f-word. XD
