Where the fuck is the Knowlespole, what the hell does it mean, and why is it not on any maps?

Sounds like a knowledge explosion to me.

Forgotten City? It's relatively close to the Northern Crater.

I figured she meant the snowy continent with Icicle and the Forgotten City and everything.

I thought Knowlespole was the Cetra name for the Forgotten Capital?

If I remember correctly, it is supposedly a bastardization of "North Pole".

Rantz is correct. The japanese word was supposedly something that sounded or gave assiciations to the north pole, so the translators probably thought that they should give us something along the same lines. It kind of failed, though. North pole didn't pop into my head until I was told about it like over a decade later.

Rantzien has it right. It is an allusion to the Northern Pole region.

It's actually a really cool word - interesting that it came about like that.

WRONG!!! It's where all the knowledge is stored. In a pole.

That's a pretty cool fuck up then. Like, good one Woosley?

That's a pretty cool smurf up then. Like, good one Woosley? If he did it, wasn't he just FFVI?
I knew it was that location (since there's a line "Knowlespole refers to this area"), but it took me by surprise that it was supposed to be North Pole.

Woolsey didn't work on FFVII. Iirc, he worked on FFVI, Chrono Trigger, and Secret of Mana, but I don't think he was involved with the company by the time of FFVII.

That said, I don't think there were any official translation credits for FFVII, so make of that what you will. Regardless, it's highly unlikely that Woolsey would have made such elementary translation errors as "This guy are sick".

This is a good point. I just automatically attribute any excellent translation things to him because the dude is a leg
