James Avery passed away, so here is a thread to reflect on his work as Uncle Phil and Shredder (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItUwk77U4Lk).
I had a particular article in mind to link to, but on second thought it contains too many expletives to post somewhere that uses swear filters. It probably gets irritating to be associated with one character in your career that doesn't really showcase your range or ambition, but the character of Uncle Phil was awesome in that it showed a successful, hard-working and tolerant man who was a good person, and cared for our would-be street rat when his mother wasn't able to and his own father didn't care to. It probably seems silly, but I feel a little like Uncle Phil was everyone's dad, for a while. And for all of Will's fat jokes, Uncle Phil had to be in pretty good shape to throw Jazz off of the porch all those times. RIP.
