Ah yes, SimCity. Now this is truly a series that I grew up with, playing every incarnation up through 4. (No, I haven't touched Societies or that new one :barf: ) I even played SimCity DS, and what a truly lovely little game that was!

Have you built a truly great city? Do you also love this series?

I only played SimCity 2000 for the PlayStation and couldn't build trout. Good game, I was just terrible at it. Didn't help that when I first played it as a kid I didn't have any patience to build anything from scratch and didn't know how on earth to meet the demands of my citizens in the pre-set cities. As an adult... I still didn't have any patience to build a city from scratch or meet the demands of my citizens.

SimCity has a habit of crashing at random times on pretty much every PC I've ever played it on, and this is the cause of much frustration as beyond that little issue, I adore the game.

Man, good old SimCity 2000. It was on the school computers, for whatever reason, and we played it quite a bit when we weren't meant to be :shobon:

SimCity 2000 is one of my favourites of all time. I bought it again during the GOG sale. Maybe we should post cities here. I haven't really "finished" any of the cities I'm working on now though, and smurf knows where the cities I made when I was younger are.

It really sucks that they screwed up the new one so badly; it looked like it had serious potential from the previews, but EA apparently forced them to rush it out way before it was ready and I doubt it'll ever recover. Plus that DRM was a horrible idea.

CitiesXL 2012 platinum edition is the best city sim ever.

SimCity2000 was great. I cheat my way to make money so I could build a cool city, then when it stops growing, I destroy it! :mwahaha:

The best city-building game is Actraiser.

I love Simcity 2000 and 3000. I also have and enjoy Cities XL 20xx (I can't remember the year that I own). I feel Cities XL picks up where sim city dropped the ball :/

I was not a huge fan of Simcity 4 however. I just couldn't get into it.

Although one of my favorite things to do is go into sandbox mode and just build some stuff. I made a city whose border is surrounded by nothing but statues of me...the mayor! Once you get in...there is no escape! I like to use it to do dumb social experiments like this. No cops, 30 prisons =D

This is probably why I like Simcities Societies but no one else did :/

Wait, I forgot SimAnt, I loved building Ant Cities.

The SimCity I played the most, by far, was the SNES version that I had, and its PC sister. I liked it, although it's obviously terribly dated now. Mostly I just liked sensibly arranging roads.
