From Wikipedia:
Hot chicken or Nashville hot chicken is a type of fried chicken (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fried_chicken) that is a local specialty of Nashville, Tennessee (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nashville,_Tennessee), in the United States (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States). In its typical preparation, it is a portion of breast, thigh, or wing that has been marinated in buttermilk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buttermilk), breaded, sauced using a paste that has been heavily spiced with cayenne pepper (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cayenne_pepper), and pan-fried. It is served atop slices of white bread (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_bread) with pickle chips.
Hot chicken is so very delish and yummy in my tummy...
Prince's Hot Chicken Shack is the #1 most famous joint for hot chicken in Nashville and has been featured on the Travel Channel as well as the Food Network website. It's notorious for being the go-to place for drunk people to sober up after a night out on the town.
But. Prince's was always way outta my so I've never been there.
There's a place in my 'hood called Hot Stuff and MAN. Is that shhh the business.
They have Mild, Medium, Hot & up to XXXHot (maybe even 4XHot), but even the Medium is pretty on point in terms of spiciness.. I ordered the XHot for my ex and he nearly choked (this is a dude who typically has an iron stomach and loooves spicy food). Served with Colonial brand white bread and pickle chips.. Side of potato salad ... YUM YUM YUM.
