I bought FFXIV for Miriel to play while she's on maternity leave. It's the PS3 copy. As I was registering it, it got to the page where it wanted to link my Playstation ID with her Square-Enix account. Since I eventually want to play this game, I declined and set up her own PS account. Now it won't let me sign into the game under her PS ID because I already entered the registration code under my ID.

When I was going to get the game for myself to play, I planned on buying the PC copy (for the code) and letting us switch between PS3 and PC every once and a while. Do I seriously need to buy two copies of the PS3 version in order to allow us both to play on PS3? Why do I need to need to a buy a registration code for each system I want to play on? I don't remember FFXI being like this. As long as your account had a code it didn't matter where you played the damn game.

Unfortunately so - it ties the account to your specific PSN ID so that you may access your data from another system that has the install as long as you are the one logged into it. While this is great for the individual user, it is less ideal for multiple users.

Does anyone know if a PC version registration code will work for the PS3 version of the game?

Ouch!

I'm 95% certain that PC and PS3 registration codes are not interchangeable.

Bugger.

I think I can still make this work.

Just wait until you see how crappy and almost unplayable in end-game this game is on PS3 compared to PC. Or even the extremely bad servers they use in Canada that causes people very bad rubber banding lag, even if they have low latency.

SE really needs to step their game up soon...

Are FATEs still over before the mobs even load on PS3?

The number of FATE groups around has gone down a lot since the 2.1 patch, so the FATE are up for slightly longer now. I've noticed that PS3 users still take fifteen minutes to zone into a new area though.

Glad that I read this thread before I went and bought this game tonight. :\

I would guess that fifteen minutes is an exaggeration. xD How long does it actually take them? Does Rav play on PS3? xD

xD Yes, just a wee exaggeration.

It's not game-breaking or anything, but it does take PS3 users 2-3 times as long to zone in than I do on my decently powerful laptop. I assume Rav plays on PS3 cos it was taking longer for her to zone in during treasure map fun, and Sara definitely takes a lot longer when I'm partying with her.

Back when I was playing with an outdated gfx card driver, I found the PS3 to be more responsive and less choppy than PC, the only reason I switched back was FATES being over before I could so much as target a mob.

Then again, the PC version got much better once I updated that driver...

I know I'm bumping an old thread, but I have a somewhat related question. Does anybody know the payment method for the monthly fee on Playstation 3, besides credit card? Can one just pay with their Playstation wallet balance? Or is there other methods (like Paypal)?

Ouch!

There are now game cards available for North America, but they can still be a little difficult to find.

I saw a post on Reddit saying that you can get game cards in the US and Canada from Amazon now.

What's more, if you buy using this link, you'll support EoFF, too! (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GOOSORM/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00GOOSORM&linkCode=as2&tag=eyeonfinfan-20) :shifty:

So yes, you can!
