It seems reminiscent of some languages phonetically. What do you think?
I've always thought it sounded vaguely like Russian or some other Eastern European language.
Hungarian? Both sound like languages that should not have come to exist.

All I know is that my favorite Al Bhed phrase is "I'm annoying, huh!?"

I always assumed Arabic roots because Al Bhed sounds Arabic and they live in the desert. According to wiki it is coded English.

I thought they were calling Tidus an annoying c**t.
Always sounded like gibberish to me.

Sounds like someone trying to clear their throat.

It takes the syntax and grammar of whatever language the game's translation is in. So,originally it adopted Japanese syntax and grammar, but the version of it most of us are most familiar with has English syntax and grammar. I'd like to hear what it sounds like in some other languages.

oh hey that is cool
Well, that's kind of unavoidable, considering it's only a code that switches around letters. So, in our version, Al Bhed is still essentially English, no matter what it sounds like. I still think it sounds like Americans trying to speak Hungarian, though.

The term for this is "cipher".
Oh, come on. It doesn't even sound vaguely germanic.
