View Full Version : Do You?

Do you look to see who has viewed a particular thread? It's amazing how many people will just open a thread, but not post in it. I expect people to open, but not respond to this thread. ;)

I might be mistaken but I'm pretty sure only staff members can see that.

And yes, I look :p

Only staff members can. I can't see who view what and I wouldn't care all that much to. Unless you mean that bit on a person's profile, then yeah, we can see that. Though I often forget it's there.

of all the people in this thread, I do not have a signature, also its almost 5 AM pacific time, I should be in bed not taking part in this flagrant shitposting. Here's a seal singing a song because I hate you all.

I would like to say hello to the eleven people who viewed this thread but did not reply. I can see you.

I have now opened this thread and posted. I can't see who opens threads without posting in them because I don't have staff powers, but I honestly wouldn't care enough to look if I did have those powers. Mostly because I personally have the habit of opening a bunch of threads just before work or before I need to do something a lot of the time and just never get around to reading them. Or I find I have nothing really productive to add to the conversation.

Yes, I take note in who has opened threads and have not posted in them.

I used to do this when I was on staff, but since it's not possible, I don't anymore. :P

I also want to add that I liked the added ability to see "Invisible" members that Staff members have.

I hover over threads to preview them, and usually I'll post if I bother to read through it, unless I am still formulating a reply. I hate seeing a huge viewcount and small postcount in a thread, especially if it's of a personal nature.

I can understand that, but since it is of a personal nature, if I don't have anything constructive to say, sometimes I think it feels like a half-hearted post.

If a person has an issue they're venting about, and need advice on, I want to be able to contribute more that, "That sucks, bro."

So I'm probably your hated lurker racking up your view count.

I sometimes view threads and don't reply because I either have nothing to contribute, I have something to contribute that would probably just upset some people, or someone has already said what I wanted to. But I still view the threads because I'm interested in hearing what other people have to say.

I think we're all saying that Mom told me if i dont have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. If i don't have anything to add to the convo like so many I don't post.

Every now and then I do, mostly in the staff forum to make sure people who haven't posted have at least viewed various proposed changes.

Us plebeians can't see who has or hasn't viewed a thread. I read a lot more threads than I post in. I just like reading what other people have to say, don't necessarily have to comment myself.

I post in nearly every thread that I open because fuck I came this far I might as well go all the way.

Staff can see everyone who has viewed a thread and not posted? I feel this is too much power for certain staff members to have. In the wrong hands, this could be disastrous. I'm not sure I can continue to be part of such a destructive, Orwellian, online society.

That being the case, I refuse to post in this thread.

The entire time I was on staff I had no idea that was even a thing. I only just now discovered the "who posted" feature!

Sometimes I'll view a thread and consider not respodning then respond anyway where I really shouldnt.

I often view threads without replying, but it never occurred to me to even try to see who else has viewed. Sometimes, though, I'll check out "who's online" to see if there's an especially popular, active thread getting a lot of current attention.

I didn't even know that members were capable of seeing who looked at threads. I feel less guilty for when I have the odd week where I don't post too much because at least people who do that can see that I do at the very least browse the forum often.

EDIT: Wait, I guess it is just staff then? Well, whatever.
