Scotty_ffgamer gave me the idea... just to confuse everyone with the Beer Thread.

What kind of bears do you like? Are you more of a fluffy teddy bear type or are you more into the ferocious tear you limb-from-limb type?

Anyone had any confrontations with bears? I'm sure some of the Canadians on here must have seen the odd one knocking about.

Anyway... discuss bears.

Polar bears are the best bears. They're pure carnivore and will gladly eat you one piece at a time. Though with their habitat slowly melting, they may be usurped by Grolar's. Combination Polar and Grizzly bears who are equally predatory and able to reproduce and survive in warmer climates. Be very afraid Colbert.

Only black bears around here. They're the pansies of the bear species and hardly worth being afraid of. Far more dangerous if you found one walking in the road as you're driving than if you stumbled across one in the woods (or in these parts, your back yard). We don't get the cool bears here. You need to go to the west coast for Grizzlies, or anywhere that has seals for Polar bears.

Yeah I was working at the camp when this happened:

2 Juveniles Injured In Black Bear Attack At New Jersey Campsite At Stokes State Forest « CBS New York (http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2011/08/03/2-juveniles-injured-in-black-bear-attack-at-new-jersey-campsite/)

Apparently it was a pretty big deal. I saw a few bears myself while I was there, but I'm glad I wasn't part of that group.

My nephew is named Bear.

My favorite soundtrack composer is Bear McCreary.

The animal is pretty cool too.

Minor injuries? Black Bears are such wimps. If it was a Polar Bear it would have eaten them both.

In a lot of northern communities you really can't go outside if a Polar Bear comes strolling through town or they will probably kill you. Luckily, most people in those northern communities are armed at least.

As a Canadian, I can confirm that I am a bear. But whilst I'm human, I like to often purchase teddy bear plushies. But sshhh, mustn't tell anyone.

I don't know, I just like bears in general :)

Thank goodness. I'm not the only one who thought of this.

I'm a fan of polar bears, personally.

I find it hard to appreciate bears based on my history with them. They would get into our garbage and traipse around our field, yard, and, occasionally, our back porch just about every summer. They nearly killed my dog, succeeded in killing one of my girlfriend's horses and wounding another, etc.

Bears suck.

Drop bears are my favourite kind of bear. Then maybe those little red bears, you know the ones. Are they even bears? I dunno. Panda bears rock too I guess.

Bears are easily my favourite animal, I love the oversized hairy murdering bastards. Also my middle name in the local language is the word for bear, so that is a great pleasure. I like to whip out my ID card at the natives to show it off, which is kind of weird but fuck you I'm a bear I can do what I want. :colbert:

My favourite bear is a panda, and my favourite panda is the red panda. That clearly means that my favourite bear is the red panda.

I like the meme thing about a bear. "I may not always kill things..." Good old Reddit.

On a related note, my name means Beloved Bear King. I AM THE KING OF THE BEARS. AND THEY LOVE ME FOR IT.

I've had bears lazing around under my pear tree eating pears, jumping up onto my deck to grab garbage bags that were waiting for the garbage truck... even though there was no food scraps to speak of in the bags, however, they still know what a garbage bag is for and won't go home without checking them all out. I put up a six foot high fence so they would not be able to come into my back yard, but who was I trying to fool... they just climb over it and still eat the apples and pears. At least they used to until humans cut down all the greenspace behind my house and put up a subdivision. :(
