I wrote an article on this a while ago :D.

So many great moments, which is part of why I love this game so much, but I would have to say Vivi standing up to the Black Waltz. It had him standing up and being strong, but also still being the kind hearted Vivi we know and love.

Vivi watching his fellow black mages stand up for him and be subsequently wiped out was heartbreaking.

Aside from what has already been said, the back-to-back destruction of Burmecia and Cleyra blew my young mind.

This is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Final Fantasy IX.
