View Full Version : Live Gamer Stereotypes

I'm temporarily living in this house/hostel crossover and 4 of my housemates play Call of Duty. A lot (it's brutal ). Now I've always heard rumours of the swearing kids in this game, but never knew anyone who actually plays like that. Until a couple days ago when suddenly I heard loud German swearing coming out of the living room. It was my housemate playing Black Ops, and he has been playing like the rumoured swearing kid ever since that fateful day.

What are your examples of witnessing gamer stereotypes in the flesh? :p

When I used to play a lot of Halo and Gears of War on Xbox Live, I would curse a fuckton. Most of my friends did too.

I used to play yu-gi-oh the card game. The stereotype that you'll never get laid playing card games is true.

Source - never got laid playing Yu-Gi-Oh

I don't mind the swearing so much; my friends and I can get a little rowdy when we play, especially if we're together. But I don't get the aggressive behaviour; even when I'm mad, I just say fuck out loud and don't direct it at anyone.

I'm not afraid to be a right royal :bou::bou::bou::bou: back to people though, because I am terrible :p

One time I took the plastic slip Batman came in and crumbled it up and threw it to the floor after rage quitting over the stupid pipes in the sewers.

You should test this scientifically by starting to play again, then see if shauna starts evading your sexual advances

It's already proven, I'm afraid. I looked something like this

Edit: While I'm here. These are gold.

I've never personally met any of those swearing people in CoD thankfully.

The rare time I play CoD I tend to irritate people by acting like some army squad leader, and telling them all to listen to my tactics because I'm a Vietnam Vet.

While visiting with my ex's family up in Canada, I witnessed her step-brother playing Ops and I heard his friends over of the headphones cussing up a literal shtstorm.

The issue with the swearing on Xbox Live is that you never actually see the person, just hear them Everything is is somewhat anonymous. This allows people to be mean to others with very little consequences. Unless you know the person very well you aren't going to call them a mother smurfer to their face. Mostly because I know the person well enough to hurl the insults as seen in http://hypehumor.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/how-i-get-friends.jpg

It's one of the reasons I turned off my mic when playing on xbox live, and why I've not renewed my subscription since 2010.

I am a huge fan of roleplaying in these instances. I would follow you anywhere, Sarge.

all of the 14 year olds in DayZ either kill on sight, use script hacks or beg for everything.
