You would think that after releasing VII and VIII on PC they would do IX next but after years of being shafted FFIII seems to be on a roll with catching up to it's brother and sister titles in the remake/port category.

Still it should be interesting to see if this game might get achievements or some other new additions.
I'm guessing they're mainly porting the DS version to the PC. An unexpected decision but I'm curious to see how it does and if this causes Square to re-release more of the classic Final Fantasy games on the PC.

That would be fantastic news....
if I didn't alreay own it for DS. I'm glad SE is making these more accessible for those who don't want to buy a certain console, but releasing it so late after doesn't particularly excite me much.

Good. The more FF games that head to PC, the more likely I am to play them. :plotting:

I'd like to see them do this with the rest of the series. Final Fantasy VI still deserves it's remake in the same vein as III and IV.

IMO 5 should be on the que for that remake before FF6.

Oh, I agree. They've already started chronologically (despite skipping I & II) so logically V is the next step if they do plan on continuing this series of remakes. I just look forward to VI more, personally.

I live in fear of a Final Fantasy VI remake. ._.

I've always felt that FF5 would benefit more from a remake than FF6 would. I think the FF3 & 4 formulas would work well for FF5, but I fear them ruining the magic in FF6.
This is interesting. If it's not super expensive, I may look into it and finally play the damn game. I skipped out on the DS, because for some reason I wasn't super interested in bolstering my DS collection. But adding a PC game is nothing these days. So I'm with Pike on this I guess. I can see games that are pre-VI benefiting greatly from these ports and remakes. But I can see justified apprehension in the idea of a VI remake though. Especially considering what they did with the iPad/Android port/remake. Maybe in situations like that, they should do it Monkey Island style. Re-design it only. And then give the user the option to press a button and immediately set it back to the old-school look

Smashing your head in with a blunt object is more fun than XIII.

Can't speak for XIII, but it's certainly more fun than X :D
III was fair for its time. Heck, I'll even say it's ahead of its time. Its main fault is that it's placed just before the SNES trilogy, which basically codified what classic FF looks like. That's why I fear the PC release might be a flop.
