View Full Version : Do you fit any stereotypes?

Do you fit any stereotypes about where you live, hair colour, job, etc etc?

I just realized how much I fit the Canadian stereotype in that I've apologized 6 times (seriously) in the past 20 minutes. This isn't unusual. Heck, I apologize if someone drops something like a meter away and I had absolutely nothing to do with it.

I try my very best to avoid being labelled by any particular stereotype. For this reason, I really HATE being called a geek, nerd, boffin, or any of those words. My mood sinks if I am called one of them, even if it was meant to be positive.

Born in the Netherlands - love weed, and I am a bit homoerotic
Tall, wide & bald - I am angry & I like fighting
Journalist - do have a penchant for getting myself into trouble

then you look at the whole picture and nothing makes any generalisable sense :monster:

I think I fit into the "nerd" stereotype pretty comfortable. I love videogames, I'm obsessed with technology, I'm socially awkward, I've got odd interests (politics, architecture, etc), I can't deal with how great science fiction is, and I don't personally care for physical activity much.

I'm a Southern girl.. I say "y'all", drink Budweiser, watch NASCAR, listen to Hank Williams Jr., and usually have no problems speaking my mind... Actually, that'd probably be more classified as redneck. Whatever. IDC.

I don't think so, definitely not to a T, at least.

My face turns red when I drink. I'm going to go into nursing. I'm not a great driver.

I don't pay enough attention to stereotypes to know for certain.

Apparently I eat like a southerner. While I was in Boston, we went out to eat at a buffet. The whole table stared at my plate when I came back to the table.

It consisted of meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, mac n cheese, and boiled cabbage or broccoli.

I tried a piece later just to make sure, and I was quite correct. :colbert:

Is "Intolerably Sexy" a stereotype?

I probably fit the Northern English stereotype quite well.

I drink lots of tea, I watch football, play indie rock and roll and drink far too much beer than is medically recommended.

I don't know what stereotypes I'm even supposed to match. I'm a lazy procrastinating pragmatic and egotistical troglodyte. As a recluse, I have no friends with whom I regularly socialize physically and I'm fairly pale. Rather than comb my hair, I prefer to wear a hat when I go out.

Ooh! I think the fact that I wear prescription classes makes me smarter and more well-read than other people. Is that a stereotype?

Eh. Me too. Just as I thought. I'm not anything.

I am very English. I love tea and scones and not making eye contact with strangers.

Really though, I just, I don't know!

Stereotypes? I don't know, I suppose having a fairly posh accent with a double barrelled sur-name, a middle name and living in a distinctly "middle class" area you could be forgiven for assuming I'm a completely posh twat at first. Though the impression doesn't usually last long.

I tend to get told I'm quite wise but frankly, not sure if that's a stereotype.

You're certainly not a posh boy, m'lad.

That's tough. I don't think so, but it depends how picky you want to be with your stereotyping, I guess.

Well, I've got green eyes, and I can get pretty jealous of my friends.

I'm (dark) blonde, and I do get pretty ditzy at times.

I wear glasses and like to get pretty analytical with stuff. Some people would call that brainy.

But there's some stereotypes I subvert! Like, I'm Polish but I can take a joke that was supposed to mock me, I'm not slow. Also, I'm no thief :eep: I also like a lot of stereotypically feminine/gay activities, but I'm straight :monster:

Pumpkin

Yes, I'm socially awkward, I wear glasses, I could go on and on about my favorite shows, books, and games. I like classical music. I like jeans and tees. I'd rather be at home reading/playing a game/listening to music. That kind of stuff.
