I finally realized I had a problem when I was driving home on the freeway today and my mind started drifting off, thinking about how I would merge those two blue cars in front of me to clear a space for me to drive past.

I play the doge version exclusively.

I got to over 15000 yesterday at work, almost had a 2048. I had a 1024 tile and two 512s, but the 512s were on opposite sides of each other from the 1024 and I couldn't maneuver them around to each other :(

I have a pretty decent algorithm down for getting up to a certain point, but I still need more time to work out anything past getting the two 512s on the screen, since I pretty much have to come up with a completely new method for working things around in the leftover space.

Save me.

2048 tetris edition is pretty rad, as is the flappy bird edition. Creativity at its finest.

It took me 3 days to master 2048 and "win!"

This is how:
keep the highest number in one corner and only slide in directions towards that corner. I usually keep my highest number in the bottom left then stack along the bottom ie:
[_][_][_][2]
[4][2][_][_]
[4][2][2][_]
[1024][256][256][64]
I try to never move that one corner if I can help it. If I do and a number takes its place I take a redo.

For those who don't know, 2048 is a clone of a clone of a game called Threes. There's a (long) blog post by the original Threes devs that talks about the issue of game clones. THREES - A tiny puzzle that grows on you. (http://asherv.com/threes/threemails/) It's pretty interesting if you care about the game development process.

2048 can be beaten by an automated program that moves up left up left up left with a few random rights thrown in. Threes plays differently in some subtle ways, making it way harder and arguably more enjoyable.
