Where do you buy your games?

I tend to buy all my games online with rare exceptions these days, and those exceptions are just really neat cheapo pre-owned deals that pop up at GAME UK.

These days I'm a bit of a Steam addict. If not there, I get sneaky discounts from a friend at a local game store.

I can't think of the last time I bought a game anywhere other than GOG or Steam.

I try in person first but if its too old for stores or I can't find it, I go online. Usually ends up an even mix.

Nearly always online, usually as part of a Steam sale. Same for console games too, if it was a day one purchase I used to buy in store as the prices were generally the same for the first few weeks after a big release, but now that's changed.

I got Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD for about £22 online (it's £30+ in stores) and The Elder Scrolls online for slightly less, if the difference was minimal I'd still buy in store but when the savings are nearly always £8 or more online will always be the way. And occasionally I'll get the game the day before it's official release date, so there's really no need for me to buy games from specialist shops anymore.

A mix of everything. If there is a new game out and I want it right away and the price isn't significally higher than online+shipping, I'll buy it in a store. If there's a game I kind of want but don't have a desire to play immediately, I'll usually order it online. Some games I buy digitally simply because I don't want to deal with changing discs on my PS3, and PC games I buy almost exclusively digitally, because some of my computers don't even have DVD drives anymore, like my Surface Pro 2 (brag brag). I usually get games from steam if i get them digitally on my PC, but I've grabbed a few from GOG too.

Online is generally cheaper, but I do like venturing into a game store just to see what all the big releases are. I don't really buy games that everyone else buys, like a CoD game or some other big, mega-budget game.

Straight from the XBox marketplace and pretty much only when they've got super sweet deals going on. I was planning to purchase some games I wanted on Amazon when the prices went down a bit, but I was surprised a couple of months ago and got Skyrim for like $9.00 and was pretty pleased about it :jess:

I purchased FFIX and FFVIII in the past six months from Amazon, as I will be doing to FFVII in a few months when I get around to wanting to play it. So, online.

Other than a few impulse buys at the pre-owned shelves in store, I'll always buy online.

You can get anything online these days and the return policies are excellent. The wife that I ordered last year had to be sent back due to faulty packaging. They had no issues at all.

Amazon for 360, GOG or Steam for PC. I think only two of the Xbox 360 games I own came from an actual store - a pre-owned copy of Burnout Paradise and a pre-owned Mass Effect.

I used to buy my games straight off the shelf. But now that I'm forever one console behind, I can never get the games I want for the system I finally own unless I buy online. fuckuckity smuck

I don't really play many console games these days and I don't think most stores know what a PC game is. Definitely leaning more strongly to always buying online than ever before.

Just depends. Sometimes in store there are some good deals that get me new games fairly cheap (for example, Disgaea D2 was down to £20 just days after release, which got me it cheaper than new online) but most of the time, I do shop online.

I always go to the locally owned video game shops first. If they don't have it I check out Gamestop. Sometimes I pre-order stuff, like FFs or new WoW expansions, and they come from Gamestop.

It's been a mix of both lately, but I generally buy online. I have free two day shipping thanks to Amazon Prime, and I don't have to worry about sales tax on there for now. Thanks to that, it's generally cheaper to get it on there. I will buy from Gamestop during my work breaks if they have a sale that makes it a good deal. I'll buy stuff from Vintage Stock and other places that sell older games if it's a good enough deal. If I'm buying from a store, though, I generally have Amazon pulled up on my phone to compare prices.

This and also mostly online via amazon, steam, gog... etc. Sometimes Walmart or Gamestop.

Given that buying games in store usually costs me about $30 more than buying it online, I tend to purchase online except in times of excellent sales. But Steam is where my focus has been for a long while now, where I can get all my games for under $10 which is a lot cheaper than dropping a hundred every time I wanna play something new.

I buy from Ozgameshop. It takes a bit longer to ship to Australia, but it's free shipping and the games are usually half price compared to here (even new releases, surprisingly). Either that or Steam.

Amazon, since I get triple points with their rewards card and launch day delivery with Prime. Their digital PC storefront is also great and has some unbelievable bundles sometimes.

I have been buying less games since I got PlayStation Plus in November.

An even mix. I'm a collector of classic games and I often enjoy trying to find the games in various pawn shops and used game stores since their prices tend to be outrageous online. I still prefer getting stuff from stores but I have no issues ordering stuff online as well.

I try to buy them online as often as possible, because if not my only other option is the local EB Games/GameStop, and I don't feel comfortable giving them my business.

The only games I really play now are old PS1, PS2 or SNES games that I feel the urge to play now and then. Obviously the best place for that is online, so always there.

That said, I still only buy about 1 game every 5-7 months. I have a nice little collection already that I'm very content with.
