Blue envy. Just looks the best from how I am picturing you right now. Also, those names are terrible.

If you're leaning towards blue/turquoise, then I'd go the blue, because if it's anything like the blue I put in my hair, it generally fades to a nice turquoise anyway, so you get the best of both worlds.

If you're leaning towards the blue/purple, I'd go purple, because it generally fades to mostly blue with a little pink/purple still, which looks really awesome.

My tips are blue at the moment - I redyed them last night.

They really, really are. Deep Emerald is an okay name, but the other two are horrid. xD

Deep Emerald is going to be the name of my prog rock album.

I would definitely recommend purple then based on that. Maintaining bright anything is really hard and I've found green washes out particularly quickly. Purple has stayed in my hair (and also Jiro's hair, so I'm not just using myself as evidence) better than any other colour and even when it fades it looks rad.

Are you bleaching youre hair? If you dye it purple, itll fade to a silvery white color. I hear green fades to an aweful color. Im not sure about blue but im sure its similar. Also purple is awesome :D

The deep emerald colour looks the best, though at the same time it reminds me of Miku :/

Lusty Lavender. This is one of the few occasions when an opinion can be objectively wrong - namely the opinion of anyone who disagrees with mine.

The first word I saw when I opened the thread was the word "Lusty" so I chose that.

Just photoshop the colors on your hair to see what looks the best.

This works, but do you have any with better lighting?

One of those colors that doesn't directly translate into a photo well unless you have a good light source to contrast it against.

i was gonna suggest lavendel before i even found out that this was an actual poll option

and yes that photo is a bit poorly lit to get a good result. I guess you could increase the brightness and contrast and try again maybe?

-edit-
Messing with levels and contrast and shit just enhanced the compression artifacts by a whole lot.

I would be cautious bleaching your hair and then directly applying hair dye to it after. Bleach is the worst thing you can do to your hair. It blows all of your follicles open, so if you apply the hair dye directly after, the color won't hold as long as it should.

What you should be doing is lifting the color of your hair out first with a kit from Sally's or something and then bleaching it, or it's very likely that going from a dark brown you'll end up with a nasty coppery-orange color, which isn't something you can just apply a pastel color to. You'll need to bleach it after lifting the brown from it (make sure to get toner and work it through afterward to make it nice and bright), and then you should wait a couple of days for your hair to mend before adding your chosen color to it.

If you want a nice pastel color, mix equal parts of conditioner in with your chosen color. Remember that the dye will be darker than how it actually looks on your head, so don't keep adding conditioner to it or it will be useless.

I like the light lavender color on boho girls, so it'll probably look cute! I would also suggest the Manic Panic brand for colors because they are the best.

Emerald, since green is the best colour. I thought you weren't going to dye your hair this year anyway?

i already did it for you bro, it didn't turn out well, and turning it up a bit less than to what ruined the picture wasn't enough to make the color very visible

if i had like a super high res picture with great lightning, i could have done a lot more i guess!

Such divide. There's clearly only one option.

Rainbow hair.

It's not virgin if you've colored it.

It's possible to do both in one day but it's bad for your hair and the color doesn't last as it should :shobon:

I thought you dyed your hair the color that it is now. My bad! Good luck.

I may do my hair this weekend, but just my usual color to make it look less dull and throw some moisture up in this bitch.

Purple, definitely.

Bleach totally ruins hair, so make sure to get some deep conditioning treatments to keep it nice! The ends of my hair are still really damaged and I haven't had any bleach or colour for atleast a year! But if your hair is fairly light naturally then the damage should be minimal as the bleach would require less time!

Any bright colour will fade mega quick on bleached hair so I'd probably go for the full colour and just wait for it to fade and use colour shampoo & conditioner to try and retain the colour I wanted.

I really like the blue and the purple! I'm leaning towards the purple. :jess:

I picked blue, just because it's my favorite color. If it were an option, I'd advise you to shave your scalp bald. Not all of it, just the top, like George Costanza.

Purple is a colour that will suit you. The green and blue will be too obnoxious. I mean maybe at some point try them out but purple is the way to go. I am supportive even though you are now encroaching on my purple haired turf :ffviwag:

When was that Shorty? I had purple hair in like... 2004? I also had blue hair in 2008. I was a hardcore rebel at my Catholic school.

Shorty
05-09-2014, 03:12 AM
That was in 2006! I did that color from when I was 15 (I think this photo is from 2004 (http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/ii325/demosthynes/sar-1.jpg)) off and on until 2012. I think you win with blue, though. No way would my mom have let me have blue hair.

Miss Mae

I kind of lied. I told her I was going to get some streaks, and then I told the hairdresser to do a lot more than I implied. Whoops! :hahaha: Sadly I don't think there are any pics of that colour anymore though.

Shorty

omg haha xD I just went and grabbed some dye at the store and did it without asking. I thought I was going to get in major trouble (worth it! atleast I'd have purple hair!), but she was surprisingly cool with it.

Miss Mae
05-09-2014, 03:31 AM
Well that's cool. The first time I dyed my hair was with my mother's permission at age 9. I dyed it bright red with gold through the front. I have no idea how 9-year-old me convinced my mum to let me do that, but I'm very impressed.

Divide your hair into three sections, dye each section a different colour and then braid it. Also grow your hair to braiding length before dying

I asked my friend who regularly dyes her hair crazy colors which fades and which works best and yah. She professionally makes makeup and does that stuff she said

It all depends on your friend's hair chemistry. Pinks last really long in my hair but everything else fades quick. She can pretty much expect that with any semi permanent dye it's going to fade quick, all of the unnatural colors do. Teal, purple, and blue are all similar enough that they'll probably all fade the same.

Come on people. Blue just needs 3 more votes!

Miss Mae

Swimming eats at colour pretty harshly (as Jiro found out when he went to the beach with coloured hair and walked out of the water basically colourless again). It's obviously fine if you don't put your hair under (this is my strategy) but if you want to actually swim then yeah, I'd wait.

Miss Mae
05-15-2014, 03:45 PM
Definitely positive! And you get the benefit of having different hair over the summer, even if it isn't coloured. Sometimes just a change is enough.

Am... am I right in saying that not one of the models on the front of those boxes has actually used the dye, but rather that all of them have had the hair colour photoshopped onto them rather poorly? Because that's totally what it looks like.

I like natural hair colour so I have no valid say in this anyway, but I am rather amused that not even the models they use for their hair dye actually use their hair dye.

If they have actually dyed their hair and it actually looks as cartoony as that, then wow, that's crazy.

Miss Mae

It's definitely shopped. Look at the boys. It's terrible.

I was contemplating dying my hair darker for winter, Jinx, but I've been avoiding my hairdresser and man trying to do all my hair at home is so painful these days, so I think I might just leave it.
