Child's Play reimagined: Guardian Angel Chucky (original title of the thread)

I've seen a few fanmade cuts on youtube for the likes of Mary Poppins, Mrs. Doubtfire, Willy Wonka, and Mean Girls as Horror flicks, Dark Knight, Breaking Bad, and The Fly as Rom Coms, and even Forrest Gump as a Thug Life movie and IT as a Family film.

I don't have the materials or time to put together my own trailer (my computer won't even allow me to install anything I download). But I do have a vision of what Child's Play could look like re-imagined. The film has been the silliest excuse for a horror movie that I've ever heard of and is only frightening to little (which I had been when I first saw it... and I probably wouldn't have been so scared if anyone had told me I was being taken to see a scary movie where a little doll kills people, but no, my dumbass aunt and her evil little children dragged me there under the assumption that I knew what I was getting into. I had never even seen a single trailer because our tv only had like eight channels. My cousin called me and asked if I want to see Chucky and I had been used to going to Chuck E. Cheese, so I thought that's where we'd be going)

So in my version, Chucky's only purpose is to protect the child. The kid and his mother are in witness protection and hitmen manage to locate them and attempt to rub them out. Chucky, with his unassuming appearance and small size is the perfect candidate for stopping them. Of course, despite making Chucky the hero, I don't want to turn this into some kind of kid-friendly family film. So these assassins are going to be getting shot, crushed, electrocuted, stabbed, slashed, and generally ripped a new one by this creepy little doll. In the end, it turns out the doll is inhabited by the spirit of the kid's murdered father.

I had initially imagined an opening scene which shows the original Chucky walking into a film studio dressing room and peeling off a fake layer of doll skin (the layer with his trademark "scars") to reveal that he's actually been portraying himself in a series of horror movies since he no longer has to protect the kid and needs something to do. Basically this would make the movie something like Child's Play meets Ted.

What do you think? Any good? Are there other films you have ever re-imagined or think could work if re-imagined?

I dislike the recut trailers of "x film as a horror film", it's too easy and doesnt require much imagination or clip searching. Just put things in slowmotion adjust the brightness/contrast and put some disturbing music over the top.
However I love things redone as romcoms, sitcoms, 1995 style and whatnot

As for my own ideas, I have none at this moment in time. I've never seen chucky so I cant really comment on your idea
