Haven't done one of these in a while, which is your favorite character in this game?

I choose Edge because NINJITSU!!

Also I identify more with him, being the hotheaded sonofabitch that I am.

It's all about Tellah. Meteor to the face, smurfers.

Also his arc just rang the most true to me. It was really well done.

Rydia, of course!

This is of course, the only right answer.

I chose Kain. Not because of any story/plot reasons, but for the sole fact that I like Dragoons.

I have to give it to Cecil, sure he becomes a typical noble knight but I love his entire story arc leading up to becoming a Paladin and then the final arc where he forgives Golbez.

That'd be Porom.

Cecil. I like redemption stories. Though Cecil never did anything terrible when compared to other redemption stories, he definitely was on the dark path. I liked how FFIV introduced that concept early then followed through with it to the max. I know most people prefer the dark knight, which I can't really understand unless you are an angsty 14 year old, but I was amazed at the Paladin transformation as a kid, and I guess that really stuck with me.

I think it implied that he killed a whole bunch of people in Mysidia in order to get the crystal.

That was pretty bad, and wrong. It was so bad and wrong that there should be a new word to describe how bad and wrong it is. Like "Badwrong" or "Badong." Killing is badong.

No, I got that he killed people in Mysidia, even in the edited original US version. Just saying that there are other redemption stories out there where the character being redeemed has done more bad things for a long time.

Rydia is good but Porom is the best. I like Leonora in TAY a lot too. Yang and Cid are neat and I like how the word "Calcabrina" sounds.

Guess I have a thing for overly-serious magic-using girls. :shobon:

I think Tellah was better at having an actual personality.

I've often thought of FuSoYa as being mildly reminiscent of deus ex machina. He's a God-like being who comes into the story very late, and provides much of the exposition near the end. The fact that he participates in the action, and that he gets himself nuked by Zeromus, saves him from being an utter deus ex machina, but all the same, there's little about him that's interesting, and the fact that he's Cecil's uncle is mentioned once, and never referred to again.

Spoony Bard comes next

Now, do you mean Edward, or the one who says that line, Tellah?

Cecil easily followed by Kain and finally the bard Edward.

Cecil is the character that reignited my interest in FF, fantasy books, and RPGs in general.

I randomly decided to play FFIV DS and was instantly drawn into his story. I like how he was not some big brawny brute like most knights tend to be portrayed at times. Me being a martial artist I always leaned toward the martial art themed characters like ninja or monks. Cecil tore all that down. He ended up being far more interesting than I expected. I also tend to like the fast pretty boy like characters, Cecil ended up being that too. Especially in dissida when you get to see how fast and skilled he is. I also love how forgiving he is and his amazing transformation into a paladin. He totally changed my interest in fantasy characters. Now I have trouble playing an rpg or reading a book that doesn't feature knights, dark knights, or paladins.
