Welcome to the console graveyard!

My third PS3 just died, RIP. Luckily Sony's going to warrantee it. It's the 4th console on my videogame history graveyard, the other being a PS2.

How many consoles have died on you?

From what my siblings have told me, the SNES and N64 I played as a kid are resting in RIP, but they're at my mom's house so I don't know firsthand.

I also had an Xbox at one point which disappeared on me - later I found out it was at my sister's apartment (not sure how she got it but) and that it was also dead. RIP Xbox ;__;7

All my other consoles seem to be working though, at least last I checked - my PS1 could very well be dead but I haven't booted it up in years so I dunno.

As for non-consoles, my PS2 controller bit the dust a little while back (it didn't get a whole lot of use so I'm kind of mad about that) and I've also got some Pokemon Game Boy cartridges whose internal clock is dead.

My first PS3 died a few years back. Shame too since it was a 60gb launch model.

That's literally the only console that died on me.

My PS, PS2 and PS3 have all had one replacement each. I probably wouldn't have replaced my PS3 after it died, but my blu/DVD player died around the same time and I needed my movies god-dammit.

I thought my atari 7800 died, but now I think it's just that we lost the RF adapter or whatever. It's possible it still works. The fate of all of my older consoles is kind of up in the air (except the NES) because I don't have a working RF adapter for them anymore.

The only system to really die on me was my PS3. I had two 360s at some point, but I sold both of them and they both apparently died pretty quickly after that.

3 PS2s. Some may have been my fault >.>

I thought my first Playstation died one time, so I bought a replacement and then opened up the first one as I wanted to see how it all worked. I noticed a small orange belt had slipped off, so I put it back on and got it working again. Sold it for Ł40 in the end, and to my knowledge it's still working for the guy who currently owns it.

Other than that I've had a PS2 die on me (disk drive wouldn't open), and my first Xbox 360 got the dreaded RRoD six months after I bought it. Both were thankfully replaced under warranty.

I have never had a console die on me. :3

I dropped my ps2 to the ground about a year after getting it, but I managed to get it replaced on warranty. Then I had a gamecube's laser wear out after just a year, which I also got replaced on warranty. That's about it.

I have a second hand nodded ps1 that still works, and my ps2 and ps3 also still work. I don't expect the ps3 to die anytime soon, considering most of the wear it gets these days is on the hdd, which I can replace on my own anyway. The ps2 has a nearly dead laser diode as well, bit I play games from a hdd on that too .

Hah! I wish I had :p Honestly I'm very ocd when it comes to discs and consoles, almost all of my devices still work. PS3... I think it's just a bad luck streak.

The first died within warranty after I bought it about 6-7 years ago, gamefreezes all over the place. The replacement lasted a long time; about 6 years. Then it got the PS3 version of the RRoD. Of course warranty was no longer an option after all this time, but I was happy with how long the device worked anyway.

Bought a new PS3 slim to replace that one thinking I'd play it for another 5-6 years (like I still do with my PS2). It's very disappointing to see it break down so soon considering I have been away from home most of the time and have only played effectively maybe 4-5 months. Games just freeze out of nowhere every half hour or so. It's a warrantee issue and Sony said they'd send replacement within 2 weeks. All will be well :shifty:

My Super Nintendo died way back, and other than that, the only console I've had die was my first PlayStation.

Half of my broken stuff still works. I am still using my old DS to trade my Pokémon between the games.

And those multiple times you red ringed your 360 playing Tales of Vesperia.

Ah yeah, same here. I got fed up after a while of having to play the damn thing either holding it in the correct position or completely flat so I got a DSi in the end.

Red Ringed once, was repaired. Still works to this day.

My original 360 suffered the red ring, but it was 3+ years into its lifespan and I used it pretty god damn heavily, so after all the hoohah about RROD I think it did quite well. That being said my original PS2 and N64 are both still kicking. My PS1 last worked when I last saw it, but then I don't think it's been booted up for 12-13 years.

My original PS1 was a very early model, so it fell prey to the construction flaw that meant after use the laser would be misaligned. It held on for a long long time though, thanks to miracles such as turning the thing upside down :wacky:

I've had two 360s RROD on me. First got a hell of a lot of use, second not so much but it wasn't shockingly quick or anything either.

Everything else I have still works, except that my Genesis' power plug very rapidly overheats for some reason. Not that I know where the thing is these days.

2.

PSOne, shorted by an action replay cart.

Nintendo DS, got someone's foot to it during a party when they weren't looking where they were going >_>

Other than that I've never had an issued with my consoles dieing on me.

Still have my SNES, Master System, PS1 and PS2. The only console I've had die on me is my PS3. I've had 2 of them conk out on me, and after the second time I just didn't bother replacing it. That was 2 years ago.

The fact that my PS2 still works after the amount of hours I've put into it is incredible. Same with my PS1. They're the consoles I've played the most in my lifetime and they're still going strong.

All but the PS2 are still functional. That one stopped reading blue discs so I tried to fix it myself, but then it stopped reading discs at all. I think if I just install a new laser it'll work okay. No use buying another, they'll all old enough to be having the same problem with the blue discs.

Thankfully, everything still works, the last I checked.

But the last time I loaded up my Game Gear it didn't seem quite right, but still worked.

My brother's old NES is a shadow of its former self, our old Sega Genesis broke down, and the first PlayStation that was passed to me had to be put upside down in order to play discs, but none of the consoles I actually bought have broke down.

Oh yeah I had a hinge problem with my DS Lite, too, but Nintendo fixed it free of charge ^_^

I lost a SNES to a faulty circuit somewhere, my brother lost an Xbox 360.... we lost a PS3 and a PS2.... My GBA SP also got snapped in half (amusingly it still works though)... and that's just about it.

2 PS2 and 1 PS3. They don't make consoles like they used to; my SNES, Gameboy Color, and N64 are still kicking. If I still had my NES I bet that would still be working too.

I bricked a 360 once somehow while updating the homebrew. Wasted all that JTAG work. I had a PS2 that crapped out on me, but my other one still works aside form the laser being worn out. Other than that though, I can't think of any other consoles I've had that just stopped working.

Never. Well, at least none have completely "broken down" on me. I'm pretty sure every console I've ever had has at some point glitched out or froze on me. My PSP 1000's UMD drive stopped working, so i picked up a 3000.

Just my original PS2 (first gen) which just stopped playing properly which I am guessing is a indirect result of it being my DDR years. Everything else has survived.

One PlayStation, and even then it was only because of a power surge at my family home in NZ. Sucked, but oh well.

I've had a lot of PC parts and Sky HD boxes go faulty, though.
