EoFF, generally in life how oblivious are you to things? Do you daydream through your life, missing all the details around you and it's a wonder you end up anywhere? Like a seal out of water, desperately trying to get somewhere, anywhere. Please. Anywhere.

Are you good at passing messages on? I am terrible. Nobody in my family relies on me anymore for such things, they just don't bother. I will never pass on the message. I'll forget they ever even called.
I get distracted very easily, all the time. I am known for my general dreamy way of going through life.
I'm generally not given much responsibilty in my life and I like it that way. It's safe.

I've been sitting here for almost an hour now with headphones in my ears, but no music is playing. I can hear nothing. I could put a song on at any moment but I just forget what is happening and that I have headphones in.
I never know the names of the streets in my area, I just remember the scenery and that's how I get around. People think this is weird.
I've never memorised a phone number in my life, not even my own. I don't understand how people can! (Home numbers don't count though, they're easy. Much less numbers. And you can make a little song out of the numbers.)

Basically, are you very successful at being a person, or not so much?

I can be looking for something and have it be right in front of me the whole time so I'm pretty oblivious. Mix it with forgetfulness and you have a deadly combination, my friend.

Edit: I think Jinx won.

I am completely oblivious. Ask anyone I speak to on a regular basis how often I have to have jokes explained to me.

That reminds me of my old roommate, Shorty. The other roommates and I would tell him an inside joke that he had come up with, and he would just always give us a confused look and ask what the heck we were talking about.

I'm pretty oblivious myself, and I can be pretty forgetful. My parents will ask me to do yardwork or something a week or so before I have a day off to do it, but then I completely forget about it. Then I get yelled at. I'm always thinking I'm losing my phone (usually while I'm talking on it or just holding it). Lots of stuff like that.

I am really on the ball about many things, but sometimes I am just completely oblivious to the entire world. I remember one time my Mum had a whole wall removed in her house, and I didn't even notice.

Some of these are impressive even to me! The other day I said to my mum 'that's a really nice new lightshade' and she was like 'we've had this for a year'

But a wall is pretty special!

Depends really. Sometimes I'm an airhead, other times I'm the only one to remember anything. I would say I can be pretty oblivious, but my memory is usually pretty good.

Similar to you, I am totally rubbish with road names. The only road names I know are the ones I've had to type into my sat nav in the past! Other than that, I remember by landmarks... 'Take the second right after Tesco's'... 'What's the road name?' ...I HAVE NO IDEA.

But in other ways, my memory is pretty good. I remember to pass on messages, conversations, occasion dates etc

Wait, what was this thread about?

Nah, I'm pretty good. I remember a lot of things. Names I am generally horrible with, except in some strange situations. I can give you the names and miscellaneous details of people I competed against years ago, but I can't tell you half the people in my current class.

I'm horrendous w/ names. When I moved to my current area @ work, I tried to talk to people as little as possible because it took my months to get their names in my head.

I constantly forget about things, sometimes things I was just talking about. I'll look for stuff on my desk, like a pen & have to look for a couple of minutes before I see it.

Sometimes I am brilliant and organised. Sometimes I am the most forgetful, unobservant, dense human being on the planet. It's very frustrating because I have high expectations of myself and then suddenly I just cannot for the life of me understand someone or remember a name or something.

I will forget things.
You want me to give a message? You're better off writing them a note yourselves.
Wait, I was suppose to go this thing here with you Wednesday? okay!
Oh oh, wait. Today is Wednesday?
I better grab this thing before I go because I'll need it to do something. Let's grab it and go. (30 minutes later) How in the world do I forget to grab something before I leave when it was literally the last thought I had before I left on my way out the door?

I never forget if it is at least of slight interest.
