Whether it was the two console releases or the PC versions that are still going strong, who else picked these up and tried to make a game?

I was terrible, but yes, I did try.
I recently picked up the Humble Bundle with all of them in it because lol why not!

I've been tinkering around with RPG Maker for 10 years.
The Bundle was the best deal I've seen for anything in a while and I feel sorry for anyone who didn't manage to get it! Ended up making a game with the included content for the Indie Game Maker Contest 2014. You can find my entry here (http://contest.rpgmakerweb.com/game/view/id/121#.U6ljJvldWSo) (and feel free to vote for me to win the people's choice award! ;p)

I have RPGMaker 3 on the PS2. I tried the first one but I just couldn't figure it out. RPGMaker 3 was much easier

Yeah, once or twice. I made an EoFF game out of it once, you can probably find it in the General Archive if you care to.

Wha? I also made the mistake of buying RPG Maker 3 on PS2. It was the only gaming purchase I regretted in my life.

No, I quoted you because you said RPG Maker 3 was too hard to figure out then turned around and said it was easier.

Every couple of years I come back to it determined to make the greatest game ever and then five minutes later I decide that I'm actually pretty shitty at making games with RPG Maker and turn it off.

I've been using the software so long it's crazy -- I started with Don Miguel's patch of RM2K, and I've made a few games with RM2K3; it's my preferred revision, limited though it may be, of the software thus far (though Super Dante is a close runner up).
Interestingly enough, I never use the software to make actual RPGs and always attempt to create games of other genres instead, such as adventure games, board games, and maze-runners.
Didn't we all tinker around with it?

Yet you've never put one of your games up for us to play.
I was like 14. I said that I spent a lot of time with it, not that I was any good :exdee:

And it was an absolutely glorious game!

PlayStation version, I made a 5-minute experience after devoting myself to it for two weeks. I was trying to re-enact a story I had written and had customized a few characters to my liking, but I had to compromise a lot because a lot of the pre-rendered backdrops had pre-programmed places where you couldn't move to or from (WTF were they thinking? it's supposed to my RPG). I couldn't do shit with the animation maker. I later picked up the PlayStation2 version. There was even less customization available for this game so needless to say it sucked and I immediately returned it.
I spent many hours on RPG Maker 3 for the PS2 trying to make that perfect RPG. Never did, but I still had a lot of fun with all the editing tools. Back when I used to video tape my games and make movies, I'd made cut-scenes from RPG Maker 3 and mixed it with BattleTanx Global Assault gameplay. That was a lot of fun.
Looking back though, I wish I had RPG Maker for the PC. It wouldn't have been as tedious typing on a keyboard.

We should all form a team to work on Death of a Fansite II!
