So there's a new edition of Dungeons & Dragons coming out. I'm looking to get a group together and play through the introductory set and would like to bring EoFFers in on it. It'll be a lighthearted semi-casual experience using at least voice chat via a site that runs in firefox or chrome.

Don't worry about not knowing the rules or the system - we will go over that during session one. If you know about D&D and want to play or are curious, let me know here and we'll go over some basics. Looking to start sometime in the next couple of weeks.

It will be on Thursdays or Fridays around 12 noon EST. The day chosen will depend on how many can play on which.

I'm definitely down for this again, especially to test out the new edition. I heard they're putting a free basic rules set online so we could continue with them if we like them.

Will set up a Doodle later to figure out availability when I get home and theres a few more names, unless someone wants to start that now.

Why would we all jump on the new version? Haven't we all learned with 4th Edition that they're not actually improving the game with these constant iterations?

I say we just stick with Pathfinder.

I'll probably be available from 12 to 3:30 PM CST for most of July.

Oooh, sounds fun but weekday afternoons are when I'm 100% certain to be working.

Some other preliminary feedback makes me understand that afternoon cannot work for some.. I can start as late as 5pm my time (EST) but that only gives 2 hrs per session - not long for this type of engagement.

I would be down but I work until 5 MST Monday through Friday, so that conflicts just a bit with the plan. Lemme know how it goes though.

It appears as though you are gmt +1 so that means whatever time it is here, your time is 6 hrs ahead.

A 12 pm start (12:00) for me would be a 6 pm (18:00) start for you. If i started at 5 pm (17:00) my time that'd be 11 (23:00) your time.

I'll keep an eye on the thread for fun, but chances are that any time from 7:00am - 7:30pm EST Mon-Friday is not going to work for me with work and school. Sorry. :shobon:

Yeah it would hAve to be after 6pm EST for me. Maybe we could set up a second game for people who can't make the earlier one.

Wish there were a way to play not-in-real-time. :(
Or rather, wish there were a way I could play in real time.

So things may be a bit delayed based upon scheduling. For now the basic rules only allow four races and four classes - though you can combine any of them for your character concept.

Races
Human
Dwarf
Elf
Halfling

Classes
Fighter
Cleric
Wizard
Rogue

So try to think up a character who would fit into a fantasy world - what type of person are they, what kinds of equipment might they use. Do you want to play a human warrior who uses a big effin' sword, or something a bit weird - an elf cleric of the nature god, or a dwarf wizard who uses his magic for excavation?

I'm probably going to swing by a shop today and pick up one of the starter sets to check out over the weekend.

Even though I can't play, I appreciate you always trying to get games together.

DM'ing takes a sh*t ton of planning and work, so kudos to you. You're good people.
