American Gods is some heavy stuff. I really wonder if they have the balls to pull off some of the more extreme scenes in the saga. It's good though that stuff like this is being picked up. It's only a matter of time before we see The Prince of Nothing/Second Apocalypse on Showtime!

So far all of the visual/audio manifestations of Neil Gaiman's work I've discovered I have loved. Stardust was much better than I expected, Coraline is great, Mirrormask is a trip, I've heard some pieces of the Neverwhere BBC broadcast and they were spot on. I have never been disappointed, and I have high hopes for American Gods.

This could be the best thing ever. Or it could be soul-crushingly disappointing. Hot damn, I'm excited either way.

I'd rather this were on HBO as initially planned, but Starz can probably still do it justice. By all accounts they did a pretty great job with The Pillars of the Earth, after all.
