What are yours?

I like Egyptian Ratscrew and crazy 8's.

For anyone who hasn't played:

Egyptian Ratscrew is a game where you distribute all of the cards among the players and the stack them face down. Then each player takes turns flipping up a card in the center so everyone sees it at the same time.

When there are 2 of the same cards stacked on each other (or triple) you have to slap the pile in the center with the flipped over showing cards. Whoever slaps it first get all of the cards in the pile. The goal is to have all of the cards.

In addition, whenever a face card is played, the next player has a chance to win the deck. If an ace is played, the next player has 4 chances to lay down another face card. If not, the one who layed down the ace gets the center pile. For a king its 3 chances, queen its 2, jack its 1. If they DO place a face card, the player after them has a chance to put down a face card as well until no one can add a face card within the amount of card allowed and someone wins the pile. Then a new pile starts with whoever won the last one.

If someone slaps on something that ISN'T a double or triple, then the have to put 3 cards off to the side, face down, and whoever wins the next pile wins those cards.

I could go in to more detail but its super fun!

Crazy 8's is played by handing each player 8 cards. Then you put the deck in the middle and flip a card. The goal is to get rid of all of your cards.

You have to put down a card of the same suit as the one on the overturned card OR of the same number, which changes the suit. Example: The deck card flipped is the 7 of hearts. The player can put any heart on to the pile from their hand, or a 7. If a 7, then the next player will have to either put another 7 or a card of whatever suit the other players 7 was.

8s can be played at any time and change suits. So if there's a 7 of hearts down, you can play an 8 and say "I switch to clubs" and then the next player will need to put down a club.

Also very fun game!

What you call Egyptian Ratscrew, my family has always called "Slap!" I've actually made this school popular through my middle school and high school. They think I'm a revolutionary creator of a card game

Pitch. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitch_(card_game))

It was the go-to cardgame in high school. Nothing to do during study hall? Play Pitch. Finished with lunch early? Play pitch. Clueless substitute teacher? Play pitch. To this day when I hang out with my high school friends we always end up playing a few rounds. Myself and five others have rented a lakeside cabin for an entire week later this month (:excited:), and I have no doubt that Pitch will occupy a good 20% of all time spent.

Gallianté and Last Card. The former seems to have been invented by my family some years back and it is like a collection of a number of other games. I'm not even sure I'm spelling it correctly. I wonder if my Mum has the rules written down somewhere...

Oh ya, your mum! Does she still posts here? I think I made a birthday thread for her and what an honour that was!

Alas, she does not! Josh (bro) is probably the only person who still posts once in a blue moon around here without any reason other than wanting to post a little.

Here's some info on that game, after contacting my sister... (http://trowbridge5.blogspot.co.nz/2013/06/caliente-poker-or-galiente-as-we-know-it.html) apparently it's very similar to a game called Royal Rummy.

Spades. Played this game so much on deployment. Somewhere there is a picture of me playing in the back of a helicopter while flying over Japan/Korea.

Also Rummy and Texas Hold 'Em.

I hope it wasn't the same helicopter as Lt. Col. Henry Blake. :erm:

I had my first experience with gambling last night. I don't know anything about gambling! But I was at a casino just drinking with work friends and I walked up to this table, I don't really know what was happening, this man was laying cards down at random, I stood there and put five pounds of the casino money on the table and then the man gave me 25 pounds! The whole process took about 20 seconds and then I walked away and bought drinks for everyone :greenie:

Solitaire, Poker, Yu-Gi-Oh.

And Triple Triad needs to be made into a real card game right now.

Pokemon!

Alternatively Go Go Go! on Neopets. I have no idea if it's based on a real card game or not. It should be because it's fun as heck.
