What are all of you Yankees doing for Independence Day?

Playing video games, and wishing I was working so I could get time and a half.

I am not a Yankee but I dined at an American Restaurant hoping to get a discount.

Too bad it did not happen. :(

My aunt's house for a family get together. Been a while since we've had one on the 4th.

Calliope, do they have a holiday like this where you're from or are you still beholden unto the Queen?

We have Waitangi Day, but that is more a day of political unrest than celebration. At the moment it is actually Matariki, the Maori New Year! I am trying to think of something to do, but...I don't really know what I can do alone, in the opposite hemisphere, without any of the ingredients or resources necessary to celebrate. I guess I'll just...go for a walk and try not to be overwhelmed with homesickness?

Trying to get all the American members of the forum to send pics of themselves in American bikinis to me.

Closest I've come is a non-American bikini pic from Raistlin. :(

Checking out some of the local music and will probably miss the fireworks while going from one venue to the other :v

It's my brother's birthday on July 4. He used to joke that Americans were celebrating him.

Family and I shot off some fireworks. I apologize if this offends anyone as an evil American.

Today I wondered why it's refered to as "Fourth of July" in contradiction to the date format for every other day in America. Surely the day you celebrate your independance from the shackles of Britainia's sensible dating formats should follows the month/day pattern.

I went camping with my family and injured my arm. Camping while sober is not awesome.

We don't shoot off fireworks anymore. I was inside wanting to go to sleep but not being able to because of all the smurfing noise.

Fun fact about the movie Independence Day: Bill Pullman (the guy who plays the president) used to teach at the local university here. He got into acting because the students told him he'd be great at it. He's still friends with a lot of the professors here and I met him once
