So what are your thoughts about the Gmabit System which is possibly the biggest Love It!/Hate It! element of the entire game. Was it a good idea and thus would love to see it again, or do you feel it took too much away from the game and thus hate it with a blind passion?

It certainly wasn't my favourite system, but I could stand it.

Not my type of battle system, but it was vastly superior to what XIII did. At least I had control over what the AI did with Gambits.

I loved it because 1) I'm a very logical/algorithm-oriented person, and 2) it enabled me to automate the exact behavior I'd do in any other FF. It was like little computer programming projects. Probably my favorite or second-favorite combat system in the series.

I liked it, but if it just had a few improvements it could've been so much better. Like being able to "disregard" certain enemies. That would help immensely. As it stands, a character with no way to attack flying enemies CANNOT be stopped from getting hung up on them, because there's no Gambit against non-flying enemies. And even if you set up something like "Foe: flying -> 1000 Needles" they will still waste time prioritizing the flying foes over any non-flying foes nearby. Quite annoying.

Also, even 12 slots are not enough ^^

I liked the system. It allowed me to get the team working together as a unit instead of just appearing like one where i actually had to control everything going on.

It wasn't perfect, but I liked it. It really needed to be tweeked. For instance, they needed to make all the gambits available earlier in the game than they did (I think that was fixed in the IZJS version).

Why is this controversial? It was ok I guess.

Because most people I talk to either love it or hate it. I've rarely talked to anyone who had a middle ground feeling to the battle system.

Bloody fantastic. Very easily customisable for some extremely variable gameplay, and it complemented the already extremely varied game brilliantly. :)

The best combat mechanic in the series entirety.

Really helped make the whole battle system a lot less like a typical MMORPG, which was nice.

I liked it. Was a lot of pre-planning before bosses, If he uses "Status Aliment" use esuna. If your health drops below 40% use curaga etc.

Very useful for keeping party topped up with the postive status effects while preventing death, which is good for bosses.

I can live with it.
