Theory Time: Gus speaks Beaver

So what is everyone's theory about why Gus, the party's resident Man-Child brute can speak Beaver. The manual mentions he can talk with animals but never divulges much about why he can do it. Does he have telepathic powers? Was he raised by animals much like Gau? Is Gus even really human or some kind of nature spirit/ half Titan thing...? What is your theory?

Considering how poorly he speaks English, it's entirely possible Beaver is his first language.

In the game's novelization, Final Fantasy II Muma no Meikyū, it's revealed that Guy was raised by monsters. As a result, he can speak their language.

Ricard isn't in the novel, so Guy is actually the character that translates conversation between the Wyvern and the party.
