https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly - Pay what you want for games featuring female protagonists. You can have some or all of the proceeds go the Girls Make Games scholarship. You can get a lot of good games for $10.

Some mini-reviews for you:

Valdis Story (http://www.valdisstory.com/) - Super fun (difficult!) platformer/brawler. I played the crap out of this game a while back. Easily one of the best Metroidvania games I've played.
The Cat Lady (http://thecatlady.co.uk/) - Really disturbing horror game where you play as a 40 year old woman on the verge of suicide. I watched a stream of this game on Twitch. This is honestly way too disturbing for me to ever want to play, but it might appeal to someone who likes horror games that scar you for life.
Long Live the Queen (http://www.hanakogames.com/llq.shtml) - Interesting simulator / visual novel where you try to avoid being assassinated.
Defender's Quest (http://www.defendersquest.com/1/) - Tower defense RPG. I haven't played this yet but it's been on my radar for a while. It has very positive reviews.

I don't know anything about the other games in the bundle, but they look pretty decent at a glance, and Humble Bundle games are usually pretty good.

Given recent discussion on the forums, I assume people around here are interested in supporting this kind of thing. Put your money where your mouth is!

I like visual novels so long live the queen may be right up my ally

Thanks for sharing, Dr. Unne. Think I'll share this on my Facebook page too since I know some gamers who are interested in more games with leading ladies. The Cat Lady and Long Live the Queen sound great. I'm glad there's still six days left since I'll be coming into some money soon.

Long Live the Queen is less a visual novel and more a numbers/resource spreadsheet management game, but it is tremendously amusing to play. Explaining why beyond that would be spoilers, but it's genuinely good.

I second that. I played it quite a lot in august when I was away from civilization (internet), first playthrough plays more like a visual novel, then the subsequent ones you start paying attention to what you're doing so you can get the ending/epilogue you want. There are several of each, so it'll keep you busy collecting them all and the achievements.

A friend of mine had been playing long live the queen. She hated the fact that she kept losing at it.

Amusingly I own half these games already :3 Though I had totally forgotten you could play that new Valdis Story as other characters. At first I was like what, that plays as a dude. A strong dude. But you can choose 2 other characters to start out as I believe

You can play as Wyatt or Reina, who have different plotlines and combat styles. The devs are still working on the other two playable characters.
