Favorite Weapon Type

Since this game featured a whole slew of different weapon types that changed how your characters operated, which was your favorites to use and which ones did you completely ignore?

I love Greatswords. They're beautiful - especially the Tournesol - and very effective. My favorite kind of weapon.

I also voted for Guns. They work completely independent on the user's stats and just deal flat damage (Gun's Attack ^ 2, randomly increases by up to 26%) making them ideal weapons for low level games. The Aldebaran Y in particular is just damn strong (and it's a b**** to get), and the Fomalhaut is great as well.

Special mention to the Seitengrat bow. I like the concept of a really powerful bow but it really is just too damn powerful.

I ignore Measures, poles seem cool with their multi-hitting capabilities, and crossbows have pretty poor accuracy. Ninja swords are also on the low end because each one is attached with the dark element. I don't have a particular favorite though.

Most of the time, I assign each character a particular weapon (generally the weapons of their initial affinity) and stick to that throughout the game. Endgame I use katanas a lot, because I like the combo action. They're satisfying, even if the top-end polearms and gswords have better dps for most of the game.

Poles are probably my favorite. I also like Bows/Crossbows, staves & rods, swords/greatswords & Katanas.

I usually give Poles to Balthier or Fran, Bows/Crossbows to Penelo or Fran, Staves/Rods to Ashe or Penelo, Swords/Greatswords to Basch & Vaan & Katanas to Ashe.

I do make one person the "tank", another the range character. Usually Penelo & Ashe are magic heavy, early on Fran plays that role before they join.

I liked using bows, but they were powerful weak. The strongest bow had an attack of 98 while the strongest spear had an attack of 165. There was no reason to keep using the bows later in the game which made me sad,

Guns are great. Swords and greatswords are pretty spiffy, too. I never did switch up their weapons or anything, though. I just kept to the weapon type they started out with. Never occurred to me to switch it up.

I usually give Penelo poles for whatever reason and they're p boss.
