Square Enix announced today at both The Final Fantasy Fan Convention in Las Vegas and on Twitter the release of the first major expansion for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, called Heavensward. It's due to come out in the Spring of 2015.
This 3.0 expansion will feature a new race (both male and female) as well as a slew of new jobs, primals, and dungeons. The level cap will reportedly be raised from 50 to 60, and the players will be allowed to build their own airships.
The story will involve the thousand year old Dragonsong War between Ishgard (which will now be explorable) and Dravania. The setting from the promotional video (below) appears to be a wintery one.
More information will be released on October 25th at the London Fan Festival.
