I've received a few.... well, more than a few ;). But what are they for exactly?(besides inflating my ego)

And how do i send them?

They're just a good way to let people know that you enjoyed their posts or vice versa.

You also get little ranks under your screenname when you go to your profile (or Visitor Message page) depending on how many rep points you have. You get a new one for every 10 rep (I think)
