Has anyone played this? I've heard so much about it but it looks hard so I dunno if I should try it

Own it. Never found the time to beat it but it's awesome. And as I recall you can grind if it gets difficult. Only issue is it tends to suffer from some really bad slowdown.

What's bad slowdown?

Like the game will literally slow down. It's a bit too taxing for the PS2 so the animation, controls, everything lags when there's a lot of enemies on screen. It's still fun if you can look past that, but I wouldn't blame anyone for not being able to put up with pressing a button and waiting a second for something to happen.

Amazing game. One of my all time favorites to be honest. It may be a bit too repetitive for some gamers though, since you face many of the same enemies and areas multiple times.

The narrative is told from intersecting view points, like Suikoden III. The story telling is great if you ask me, even though you kind of have to arrange it all chronologically in your head(until you get the story viewer unlocked).

The artwork is just beautiful, and tied with Muramasa for the best game art ever IMO.

Odin Sphere is a fun beat 'em up. I got it when it was new. I should really go beat it. I think I'm on the third character. And yes, it's really pretty.

Personally, I prefer owning a physical copy. Physical or digital, play it on PS3 though. It's a bit too powerful for the PS2 hardware, and lags at times. It runs perfectly on PS3.

I didn't know any PS2 game emulated on PS3 would be given more power than the PS2 could offer.

I think it's that the PS3 is able to process the information from the game faster. Thus resulting in no slow down during battle.

Oh, and this review gives you a great idea of what the game is like. Anyone who is on the fence should check it out.

If you haven't tried the game yet, wait for this release Pumpkin. The just announced remake/enhanced port seems to have fixed all of the original game's short comings. With new combos, areas, bosses etc. Should be great. :)
